FAN / RELAY PROBLEMS ( I MISS MY FANS )
As above was out in car last night a 2wd sierra cosworth drove around as normal everything fine , sitting in a bit of traffic and temp went up a bit as normal
Anyways stopped car and proceeded to let my fans come on , wich they had done night before , they usually come on about O in the guage of NORM , but instead it went up to near N so turned car off and let it coold down , then drove home ( temp came right down once on the move again) thank god So i was thinking the day before and during the time i was out n car it was raining really heavy and wondered if something could have shorted or something , as i have a "dodgy relay with wires coming in and out of it sitting under bonnet vent
Anyways to this relay which i have stripped and inspected and have drawn a diagram to see if any of yous could help , now is there anyway i could test this relay ? ot test for something else ( ive not got a clue)
On the diagram peeps the square thing is not a house and the litle stars* and black writing just means it connects to relay Whats this relay for and more to the point what u think problem is any help most apreciated

20K+ Super Poster.
easiest way to check it...
bridge terminals on fn switch plug, if fans work... dodgy fan switch
then give live + earth to fans themself... if fans work its the relay / fuse / wiring

3 door saff or what
it maybe be a home job to take out the standard crap one that always goes faulty on 3door
put a twin pole switch in so you can have on all the time the engine on OVERRIDE or though the relay
you pic WELL SAY NO MORE !!!

Right lads been out there and still no fans could anyone answer some questions for me
1 . My fans are ok when power applied the come on thats something
2 . The incoming cable which goes to fan temp switch is positive when ignition is on , hence when my fans used to come on the would go off when ignition was switched off So in theory if i apply a earth/neg to this cable will it / should it operate my fans
3 . How does this temp switch tell my fans to come on
4 .What and why is this relay fitted
see my great drawing at top of page to roughly see what i talking about guys ... oh and if i install a switch can i just switch power to my fans through a switch alone what current does it draw
sorry for these dumb questions , but i have not got a clue as u probably know any help most appreciated , to a man who misses his fans
