Just in case someone thought i meant to type saffy!!!!!

Me and the missus are thinking of getting a staffy?!?! Well 2 cats, 2 horses and 3 yr old......... why not a dog?!?!

I have heard they have a good tempremant with kids and other pets??

my sister has one and his brilliant with kids


when they was toddlers they use to pull him around by his ears, lips what ever and he just went along happy as larry


the only down side with im is, his has little big dog syndrome. he attacks everything

my sis got him from kennels and we think he used to be used to fight as his face and neck is proper scared

bad up bringing


wouldnt stop me gettin one thou, brill dogs

 

very good with kids and other pets would trust mine with any ones kids he dont like planes though or motor bikes very nice dogs

 

Mate has one and is just awesome with EVERYONE but especially kids.

Don't take this as gospel(check it up) but someone once told me it's the ONLY dog that the Kennel Club class as "good with children"

I love them.

 

I had mine since he was 5 weeks old and have 2 daughters (6 and 9 years old).... I got him from a very good friend who breeds Staffs, he's 100% with the kids and doesn't care when they pull him about, lay on him etc etc

 

suppose there ok when there pups , but bringin in one to a couple of cats n kids- becarefull ...

 

Mine's fine,had her since 7 weeks old though

Just wants to see everybody

 

ere mine he great with people and i got two cats and he ok with them

staffs are lovely dogs mate,, had mine a year now and i love him to bits,,he,s good with children they pull him about and play with him and is friendly with people and other dogs,, only bad things i have to say about them is they are built like tanks and knock anything over in its path,,and mine chewed till he was 7months old,,apart from that hes the most loyal dog ive had and would highly recommend one,, i dont know if all staffs do it but my dog only listens to what i tell him even the missus cant control him as well as me,, get one u wont regret it

 

thats true they have one controller ( one true voice ) but they r good dogs BIG TIME ...

 

yeah love mine mate,, a lovely character,, to much bad publicity has made them out as nasty and vicious,, but arent all dogs when they wanna be..people even cross the road when i walk mine,,it really bugs me 2 as if they took 2 seconds to say hello to him they would realise what a cracking dog they are,,

i have noticed it and im not saying anyone on here is ..but round my way alot of chavs have them as they think havin a staffy makes them twice as hard,,ive even seem them winding there dogs up and making them go crazy,,there utter twats

 

i got my staff cos i wanted a small dog cos i got the rottie who is also great i did have a dobbie but he died

 

thats true too but most owners respect there dogs n others wanna b summert...

 

Get one ive had mine since she was about 2 years old now she is 5 and is good as gold she just eats and sleeps

 

All the bad press comes from 10 years ago

They are loyay, protective and one of the best dogs to have with kids

I personally would not buy a bulldog, due to over breeding which causes breathing problems due to the enclosed chest capacitys (my view)

A staff will not pull your arm off

They play rough, sleep, eat and fart

But they do need disapline which you install when they are pups, if you have got kids get a pup and bring them up together

 

If thats what you need you can do that but its got to be a pup that knows nothing else

But you have to remember it will get used to the outside and may not want to come in the house and maybe its a bit cruel to let the dog see both sides of the fence?

Have you considered a house cage which are far better than purpose built kennels?

bites far too much for my liking and wines like a motehrfuker at nite

biting mite be due to chewing/teething but the teeth are razors an have drawn blood a few times.

 

makes me laugh when people say that a dog 'bites'........ if a dog bit u, even a young staff, you would REALLY know about it, as in their teeth would meet and ur finger / hand / arm would be hanging off!!


dogs use their mouths to play, it's how they play with each other and how they will play with you if you encourage it and nearly all have inbuilt knowledge of when to stop their mouths closing........ as a puppy yeah they have sharp teeth but as an adult dog, any marks or blood drawn will be through you pulling your hand or arm away while they're holding it in their mouths so your fault for not being quick enough to avoid the teeth


Staff's are wicked dogs, can't beat them for loyalty with kids if they're raised from pups around them. My cousin breeds them, a few mates have them and the only things that put me off having one myself is firstly they're 'small' in comparison to the dog's I've always been around and owned (alsations, great danes and one great dane / boxer cross which was hoooooge and weighed 18 stonne!!!) and also the reputation that the unknowing public have of them and their owners due to the idiot kids that like to use them as status symbols which i personally don't blame on the dog


would highly reccomend anyone considering one to get one as they're excellent pets

Brilliant dogs, mine is great with the kids, soft as shite and probably spends 16 hrs a day asleep. Hates other animals but he was a rescue dog so no idea what happend to him before we got him.

I play fight with him all the time and he has never done me any damage, plus the minute I tell him to stop he just sits.

 

I had a Staffy with a Rottie is was not a good combination had to get rid of the Staffy in the ennd

american bulldog (johnson breed) your better getting great with kids,lives outside all year round,excellent guard dog
mum has one ,bigger his name he is 2.5 years old would die first to protect the house but he is wonderfull with children he adores my 4 year old son

 

I have 2 staffies, love them! great nature, great with the kids and i,m lucky that both of mine are very friendly with other dogs

me and the wife have 2 staffys they are lovely dogs, also the missus has a bichon frise ( tiny little thing ) the dogs get on fine, and we also have 5 kids. the dogs they love a good play fight they would not hurt any one they are so soft, they live out side in a kennel with there own bed room and heaters ( spoilt rotten ) , and me sometimes when the missus is in a mood !!! lol

 

Here we go again, mate youve got to be careful withANY dog that you bring into the family.Best advice is talk to people who actually own staffis.and if you evenyually decide to get one you,ll never regret it,But be sure you buy from a reputable dealer and get plenty of things for it to chew on,Ours eat through thr skiting board and through thr plaster board.

 

b9kos has a staff and he is really good with kids and being pulled about me and richy play fit with him all the time and the only time he ever gets serious is if we go for richys wife but even then its only alot of noise and little test bites but i have no doubt in my mind if someone really went for her he would protect and imo being as richy can spent alot of time away thats a good thing.



as for being a one voice dog i dont know about that i have only known him about a year or two and he listens to me as much as he does richy or his wife i would think nothign of walking him of the lead as he always comes back and does as is told

I have a 3yr old staff colour on his papers is blue ,quite rare i believe only 1 near me anyhow.The colour is more like a grey if i am honest anyway beautiful dog had him from pup my kids drag him all over he is so loyal its unreal people who come to the house think he is half human he sits like a human(no crap). All i can suggest is if you have kids to get a pup and bring it up with them any dog really?These dogs are very strong .My dog is great with people but hates any type of fighting dog EG rotweiler,alsation and the likes?

These dogs do NOT have A LOCKJAW as people think they just have muscles that are so strong you think they locked but its not true?

After owning a few breeds and friends having all types i can truthfully say that staffordshire bull terriers are

Severely loyal
respectful
very loving
caring
immensly strong
full of character
obedient
great protectors (they would literally die for you or your kids without hesitation)

I personally dont think you could be in better hands dont believe the hype get a good breeder not a cross pitt bull/staff off your dodgy mates and you will be sound!

mine is blue with 3 perfect symetrical whithe diamonds on his neck a white blaze 4 white paws and a perfect line down his head and blue eyes

 

We have one in our house and its an angel with people and kids - well apart from me but thats my fault and its all good fun. Friends bring kids round and the dog is perfect with them. I am careful with him around other dogs though as i have heard too many stories.
My mum works in a cat and dog home and unfortunately they are destroying quite a few of these dogs due to them ripping other dogs apart. I put this more down to poor upbringing and the poor area the dog home is in but i am still weary of them as a breed although am sure if you are picky where you get it and train it you will have absolutely no probs

I have had 3, fantastic with kids and people in general you have to watch them with other dogs though, but saying that the one i have now Marty, he`s fine with other dogs
