FAO mr2 and 200sx owners/past owners
right, im after either a s13 or s14 200sx 2.0 turbo (pref s14 but wil only have 2000-2500 to spend) or a mk2 mr2 gt t-bar.
1)what does t-bar mean?
2)how fast are they all compared to a standared s2, in terms of acceleration and top speed
3)which of the 3 would win in a 1/4 mile race
4)which are more reliable
5)is the mr2 as good for drifting as the 200sx
cheers peeps

I had an s13
Brill car. Cheap as chips and most of em are reliable. Can be a nervous drive on the limit with rwd. Great if you know what you doing as they really are the drift kings (look at the jap scene). There nippy to. 0-60 in 6.7 out of a 1.8 (170bhp) !!!
Wouldnt recomend s14, more expensive but slower !!! i think s13 have more charachter to. MR2 would be slower to.
You could get a really decent s13 for £1500 and spent the rest on mods. A chip, zorst and filter will easily see this car over 200bhp

1) It the type of roof. It has 2 removable glass panels with a bar in the middle.
2) The MR2 is faster. On a par with a standard Cossie no problem. Can't say about the 200SX, never had one.
3) MR2. No bother.
4) MR2 again, as alot of 200SX owners complain of RST like reliability
5) Depends how it's set up, but drifting is I think the 200SX would win this. MR2 for handling. 200SX for acting the gimp

1)what does t-bar mean? - It means it sutable for Hair dressers
it means it has 2 panels about drive and pasenger that you can remove to make it an "Open top"

An Mr2-gt isnt that quick is it ?? The gt model isnt turbo is it ?? The turbo models are import and certainly more expensive than £2500.
As for reliabilty i used to be a member of the 200sx owners club and s13's were always know for good reliabilty unless tuning to the higher end but this is the same for any high spec. car.
To reiterate MR2 = pish and slow unless there import (turbo's)
s14 = crap looks and slower than its younger brother but probably more reliable.

Driven S13, 14a's, and MR2 non-turbos, and been in Turbo MR2s but never driven.
S14 every time, then MR2 turbo, then S13, then non-turbo MR2
Rab- I hope you mean MR2 turbos when you say they as fast as a cossie?
S14s are bulletproof, S13s are only bad if they mega miles and not looked after, and unfortunatley thats most these days.
Most cheap MR2 turbos are a bit ropey too, but still cheap for the performance.
Normal MR2s normally last long as all the previous owners are women or total fags so never been driven hard

S14 has 202bhp as standard, there is a lil trick you can do which ups the boost ever so slightly, gives you a nice 220-225bhp, proper mechanical lsd, some have leathers, lovely car, spec wise pisses on a S13 and on looks if both standard.
S14s can be picked up for as lil as £2300 with 260bhp within site after £600 or less worth of mods and would still drive better and smoother then the S13 and still be very reliable and not that expensive to fix.

SXOC mate, sign up, its free, loads of info, and good for sale section.
S14s go for 2500-2700 all day long, but like your say to find a good one you might have to wait, but not long, also check ebay, and just take the reddies with you and go and see the car.
Cheers Mike
