What causes.......
.....clutch to seize???
Iv had my 4x4 cosworth parked up for a few weeks, i moved it to where i live and it drove fine. Went to move it to girlfriends house about 3-4 weeks later and when started couldnt select any gears. Turned engine off and it selected fine, i tried to start with it in gear and with foot on clutch but was like my foot wasnt on. I managed to free it off and drove it to where it is now.
Iv just started it up and tried to select gear and same problem. Cars only been stood 3 days since last moved it!!!
What is causing this please and do i need to get a new clutch kit???

Hi John,
Usually they only seize when left for very long period of time. I am pretty suprised that it has seized after only a few weeks then again after 3 days!!
On the ones I have done, I have always replaced the clutch kit. Sometimes the flywheel has been corroded very badly and needed surface grinding but I doubt yours will need it if it's only been stood for a few weeks.
I used to work on a lot of Ministry of Defence vehicles and because they got stood for so long (esspecially the older vehicles) they used to seize a fair bit. Usually they were the worst to do and needed the clutch chiseling from the flywheel.
