South Wales Regional Day CANCELLED
South Wales Regional day - Saturday 7th August 2004 - Llandow Circuit
CANCELLED
Unfortunately due to lack of interest and support from other RS Regional groups and visiting groups the decision has been made to cancel this show.
After many months of hardwork by the regional group and the RSOC committee members, regional groups and visiting clubs have not been booking.
Many thanks to those clubs that have booked
Bristol RSOC 6 cars
Hampshire RSOC 12 cars
Devon RSOC 8 cars
Dorset RSOC 6 Cars
South Wales XROC 7 cars
Performance ford club 6 Cars
Total 45 cars = approx 1.28% of the RSOC membership
The big attraction the big cost and big disappointment the circuit.
After many months of legal work to get the contracts changed and agreed and liasing with the RSOC Insurance Officer and Dominion plan to get the curcuit added to the RSOC Insurance Shedule we have received a grand total of 6 track bookings.
Suprisingly the day attracted a good number of traders without to much hard selling which was a very positive step towards a great show day.
All clubs members and traders will recieve a full refund that will be dealt with promptly by the regional group secretary and treasurer.
I can only say a big thankyou to all those that have helped organise this show.
South Wales are a group that is willing to travel and to support RSOC shows, this year alone the group has had a display at
Central Day
Devon
Leicester
West Wales
Cornwall
North Hants
and will also be at
Bristol/Swindon
Essex
Dorset
Derby/Durham
not to mention the other ford and non rs shows that the club supports each year.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
That sucks dude, numbers of RSOC members seems to be dwindling due to their sh*t attitude towards members, which is why I'm a member of the Devon group & not the main group

who knows what next year will bring
The plan was well thought out this year and the organising of the event has been 100% excellent.
People dont travel to the small static shows which is why we opted for a track day event with circuit. Unfortunately without the support of the members these curcuits are not affordable and that is the bottom line

we've been discussing this a little while now, and it's just a big shame that it has come to this
and to think me and several members of our club have been to a vast number of shows this year and previous too

we cant come as we're all in Germany- we are due back the day of the event. Sorry but it was booked last year.
And I reckon you pulled the plug to early. We dont get fully booked up until 2 or 3 weeks before the event regardless of when we say the cut off is.
IMHO you cut off was too far away- castle coombe's is the same as yours and they hold there show 10 days after it.
Hope that info is of some use to you- having been with Central from the 1st show we did I know how bloody tough it is- but I dont know it as much as Mike/St3v3/Daz/Gareth/Jakie/Simon as compared to them I do very little.
our first year a few members and also Big Nige actually stumped up the cash to pay for the day not knowing if it was going to be a success- having looked at tracks we know how much they can cost so I see you prob no one is gonna want to be in for that much money.
Have a re think mate and I am sure you will come up with a winner next year.

cheers all, maybe it is alittle early to shut up shop but the risk is too great for a club that hasnt got financial backing. The low low level of interest is very apparent when your organising these things.
Next year i wont be in an RS

Its such a shame. I asked some of the guys round here and most of the cars are either still broken or just running in with the fear that they dont want them going bang again. I was looking forward to a drinking session with you lot sometime again this year as well ....

Gutted for you all. Maybe there are to many shows now? It is quite a commitment to do the majority of shows so people will pick out the ones they want to do and invariably they will either be the really big ones or ones that are fairly local to them.
Yours should have been a winner with the availability of a track, to close to Coombe? I guess its the track day boys feed back that will be most valuable to you only they know why your date did not seem attractive?
Best of luck for next year

Too many regional shows, people just cant be arsed to go to em all.
Being a track day shouldve been more of an attraction, but Llandows not a very popular track it seems (ive heard "glorified go-kart track" more than once), so manybe thas it.
This show had a LOT more going for it than many shows tho, which resemble nothing more than a load of old Fords in a field, a burger van, and a bouncey castle.
Tho i spose they cost less

thats just it, we had to run with advance bookings to pay for the day (as you do in the early years) however we still only had 5 cars booked on track (not the mighty 6 that i thought lol) no real interest shown etc, maybe it is pulled to early but with about 4 weeks to go we are still around Ł3.5k short

To be honest, as a personal opinion it was expensive for the track for what the track is....
I never committed cause it would mean driving, to which would have cost enuff in fuel, then the day - you are looking @ 300-400 quid all in, in the same month as national day / USC / TOTB etc.....
Its all abit much for people i think....
Early years ? our 2nd show

Really gutted this has happened.
All the time and effort the group has put in.
Hope this does not put the group off sorting another day for next year, track or field.
Really gutted that you had no support for the day from other groups, roughly the same distance as Castle Combe.
Dave.

thats what it boils down to Dave, if groups arnt willing to travel and attend this day or others then they just wont happen.
Yeah Dingy early years, you've done very well with your show, we are in year 1 trying to attract people, track passes were possibly not cheap but were as low as we could afford to go. The success of this show was in the hands of people attending the day.

Fair play then mate, but for me it was too expensive for the track, sorry but honest opinion.
I have attended loads of shows, but only showed my car 3 times ever.....as it aint my thing, so you can't really say i don't show, cause i know i don't......

AArrrrggghhh!!!!! really sorry to read this.
I have to say the Welsh RSOC has to be one of the most hard working and helpful group out of the lot. They have attended shit loadsa shows and showed their support -- only to find when they required support there was none
I was looking forward to attending the show and having a few beers with the lads. Not gonna track the 3dr as i dont want to blow another engine just yet.
Have to say tho the show looked top class with good attractions
Maybe nobody wants to go to wales or its too far, etc.

what a pisser John... the amount of work that goes into a show, specially the first one.... most people won't appreciate..
No confirmation from Somerset?
Better luck next year - if you can be arsed, and no-one can blame you if you can't...
You've put all the right things together as best you can to make a decent show too... maybe suffering a bit from being at the end of the country so to speak maybe..?
