Is there a temporary fix to siezed calipers???
Iv just realised that 1 of my front calipers is seized quite badly, it wont even go back with a G-clamp.
Is there a temporary fix i could do to fit the new pads in until i get it sorted?
If not then im gona have to get another caliper. But would Saph 4x4 calipers fit, as mine is a 2WD?
Thanks.

Push the seized piston out using the force of the brake fluid. You'll have to chock the non seized one's with bits of wood etc or they'll all come out. Clean the surface of the piston up with some light emery cloth and get rid of any surface rust. If the seals are still in one piece you might get away with re-using them, but i'd get some new ones if you can(don't know where from tho!)

As above, use the brakes to push it out.
John's seized on him at the Ring when we went last time, and by forcing them in and out a few times i managed to unseize them.
The scarey bit is when you push them out and it doesnt seemlike they are going to go back in again, and you are 500 miles from home in a car park with hardly any tools luckily some friendly chap in a skyline had a big lever bar with him.
you're in a better position though obviously and can emery cloth it clean while its poking out due to having more time/tools on your hands

Fair do's ......... il try and push it out with the brakes bit if it doesnt work then it looks like il have to put the original pads back in for now until i get another caliper.
So do 4x4 calipers fit a 2WD Saph or not then?
Oh yeah, would it help if i tried to turn the piston or would that definatly knacker something up?

turning it wont hurt provding you dont put big cunnt marks all over it doing so
if you push them out and then cant get them back in you wont even be able to reuse your existing pads.
whatever way you do it, its a bodge for emergency use only and you should use recon calipers instead IMHO

But never mind, im gona get some new calipers for it anyway as this 1 is truly fucked, by which i mean new 2nd hand calipers from a breakers or something
So does any 1 know of any 1 selling a front drivers side caliper off a 2WD Saph cossy?

Oh yeah, and im assuming that to take it off i need to clamp the rubber hose and then take the metal hose off with the caliper. This would be from the nut near the bottom of the suspension strut where the rubber hose and the metal hose are connected, yes???

Im getting some calipers off some 1 tomorrow to put on.
HOWEVER, there is 1 problem with these, they dont have the metal hoses connect to them? So how easy is it going to be to fit the hose from my caliper? Or is that out of the question?
I know how they're connected to the rubber hose near the strut, but not sure how they're connected to the bottom of the caliper itself?
Any thoughts? Easy to swap around?

Right ........ its half sorted now, as iv just come back with a set of front calipers. And now the bitch job of fitting them on.
Im pretty much clued up to it, but not all too sure on the final stage, the bleeding.
I take it as i just fill the brake fluid reservoir to the top, switch on the ignition lights and then pump away while the caliper fills up. I know to keep an eye on the fluid level in the tank and to only open 1 bleed nipple at a time. But is this basically it then?
