Smoky RST - Help!!!!!
Hi guys, just put new head gasket, timing belt etc in my RST and although its running like a dream (best its ever been) i'm gettin a puff of white smoke when I change gear and occasionally a puff of blue!!!
Any ideas? As I said, car drives and runs faultlessly, boosts up perfectly and clean, totally standard except full stainless, induction kit and dump valve!
CheeRS in anticipation!

Have you actually drove the car on a little run since changing the head gasket?
There might be some shite left in the system that will clear up as you drive it??

Hmmm my own fault for buying a cheap one and hoping it'd be ok i suppose!
Just find it wierd how the car drives perfectly and boosts up perfectly and yet turbo is still knackered - och well, any cheap T3's out there???

It will boost fine. What's happening is the oil seal around the shaft us getting weak, and letting oil from the bearing housing seap into the turbine. Just keep driving it and see how it goes.

my old turbo was running 20 psi, and was smoking very badly for 3 months, and in the end was unrepairable!, but it still boosted up fine!
New t3s and all turbos are expensive nowadays, have a look in the parts section, or ebay
also consider when buying one, your future mods, a standard one will be useless after 14 psi, so dont waste your money in having to buy another one in the near future

not much u can do mate, could just be honest with the sale, or turn the boost down a bit to see if it helps,
or just sell it and hope it doesnt show up on a test drive

You can get a company to refurbish the Turbo for between £200 to £400 + VAT - I'm doing the same with mine and it still works out cheaper than buying in a new one (well - it does for my hybrid anyway, not sure what price of a standard one is).
Cheers,
Andy
