Default FAO Doug Stirling and other music Lovers...

I have a problem i cant find a solution to online....

I have a pretty high quality seperates setup from when i was heavily into my music, monoblock amps etc, now, i used to drive it all with QED directional cable, biwired to my Heco's and Missions, however.....

In my new house, we have laminate flooring virtually all downstairs, and i absolutely refuse to run speaker wires across it and dont wish to have it taken up to run wires, or any of the other building solutions available... I would really like to get it all working again and i started to wonder if there was any "Wireless" solutions available?

We seem to be able to do everything else wirelessly nowadays, so why not send reasonable high quality sound signals to loudspeakers?

Anyone any ideas?

I've only heard of one friend who tried some wireless speakers - he wasn't impressed with the quality

Are there any 'outside the box' solutions mate? take the wiring into another room, or do it from upstairs or something? Cavity wall by any chance?

Sorry, to elaborate slightly, i want to keep my existing seperates and speakers and buy a solution that will connect them together wirelessly, no just buy a new system alltogether.

Im sure there must be one.. ive just never seen it

Stu,

As others have said, wireless "Hi-Fi" is not good quality at the moment, in fact very poor TBH

Maybe in 4 to 5 years time the quality will improve enough to be accepted by the audiophiles, but until then I'm afraid it's a very low performance compromise - even when compared to a budget seperates system that uses budget/low quality cables.

I think we will have to wait until the established "leading edge" Hi-Fi companys with big R & D budgets get involved in the development of wireless (eg: Linn & Meridian in the UK and Audio Research/Krell/Theta etc in the USA)...........trouble is, most of these companys already make (or "buy in") their own branded cables, and the sales of these cables is very profitable - the profit margins usually being bigger on their cables than on their actual seperates equipment sales

Woah, back up there. Directional cable?

I've heard this term before, but can't for the life of me figure out how speaker cable could possibly be directional

Sorry this doesnt help your problem Stu!

Neil.

PS Could you box the cable in with conduit around the skirting?

Conduit is certainly looking like my only solution, although uit has to be said its not one im happy with and may just have to put up with very thin cabling channelled into teh skirting instead

Thanks for the help chaps, as always, i appreciate you time
