they'd never charge people for using it - all the affiliate and sponsorship deal they have got at the moment makes them a killing - that little tab bar on the left of your contact lists never used to be there in MSN 5 - it came in to rake back money for the .messanger service in msn 6 and 7 - and expect an even more bloated version for msn 8
