Default Steering problem s2

Ok peeps new prob - have got my MOT finally however after replacing the bottom bush in the column the steering is heavy and doesnt retunr to wheels straight when you release the wheel after turning?????

Any ideas?

It's propably mislocated. Quite common to get it a bit wrong.

Theres a small plastic bush where the column goes through a casing.

You must make sure this bush is currectly aligned when tightning the steering wheel nut.

up, as i have same prob. When i took of the steering wheel, there is a plastic bush resting on top of the coloumn, over the hex. Should this be there?

Still got this problem. Do i have to remove top part of rack to get at this bush?

yep - need to pull out the tube that is around the rack then slide the bushes up

Sorted it today! What a fookin pain in the arse! Last year someone tried to steal the car, and thats when they must have dislodged it. Sorted it this afternoon. It's cured all sorts of handling problems, im well chuffed
