Default oil temp probe

I've just had a look at the sump on my 1.8 Zetec bottom end for a suitable place to put my oil temp probe

I know I've got 2 options but I'm not sure which would be the best - tapping the sump plug hole for the probe to fit or making another hole in the sump for it...

Any advice?

Why not just buy a Sump Plug adaptor, whereby the Temperature Sensor essentially becomes the sump plug?

That way you dont need to drill / tap anything......

You can buy them from Burtons for a few quid!

had a look to see what thread sizes I need and an M14 nut won't go over the sump nut and they don't make the right size for my temp probe, its a 1/4 by the look of it...

The std plug is 14mm x 1.5mm...... if it was my sump and its off the car i'd tap the sump and have the sender seperatly....
I have the adaptor in my drain plug and also got it from Burtons as my sump was still attached to the car when I didn the guage etc

I'd use the adaptor but they don't list the right size for my sender (or it might be me being totally thick lol)

Looks like its the drill then
