who has a rear strut brace on their car?
What difference has it made to the handling of the car from when it didn't have one on??
Did it made the rear end more stable, not do any thing or something different??
Just fitted one to my escort rs with a front strut also and not sure wot to expect as haven't driven it hard round a corner yet since fitted.
Cheers

Fitted mine when fitting new coilovers/bushes and front strut brace aswell, so cant say what difference the rear made alone.

I spoke to Ahmed Bayjoo on this and he was telling me how sloppy the back of a MkIV escort was. I never did it to mine but always wanted to. Weld in an X frame between the turrets was Ahmeds advice. I noticed quite a difference with fitting the front strut brace.

You sure he wasnt talking about all the rubber bushes designed into the suspension ??
A shell that is all spot welded together can't exactly be "that" sloppy
Welding in a x brace to stiffen up the back end and then leave all the rubber bushes in isn't exactly the best route of modifying things.

he wasnt talking about bushes. He was talking about the design of the car (and we went on to discuss the rear suspension which was very enlightening!)
All car shells are spot welded together however some are stiffer than others - and for obvious reasons. The MkIV scort is hardly stiff by any standards and any reinforcement is an improvement when the chassis is under stress.

Keith - Heard ur coming down for Nat Day... Ur old car is going quite well.. But, drive Tony's (Nuts RuS) and i PROMISE u that u will be amazed. This car makes Evo's look like a 70's jelly mould, and i'm not exagerating. I'm sure i'll be able to steel the car for one session, and be able to show u what a mk3 i capable of. Lins has a got a passanger space booked too
