Default U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet

Water vapor builds up around an U.S. Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet as it
breaks the sound barrier during a fly-by near the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) in this military handout photo taken July 27, 2005. Kitty Hawk and embarked Carrier Air Wing 5 are currently conducting operations in the Philippine Sea. The Hornet is attached to Strike Fighter Squadron 102 of Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan. no mate.
the higher you go, the lower the sound barrier gets!

you have to travel a lot faster at sea level to do it than
higher up

i forget the exact figures now is it 634 MPH at sea level? or 734 lol
cant remember now!!

Nope, you need a faster airspeed the denser the air you are in (ie, low altitude, higher speed needed to reach mach >1 ).

Spot on, why Concorde could only do it if it reached high enough altitude

Anyone though of the air perhaps being a lot thinner up there and causing a lot less drag?

CROCK OF SHIT!

Concorde could EASILY break Mk 1 at SEA LEVEL, as it was capable of Mach 2 at 60,000m. However, it is forbidden from travelling above the speed of sound below a specific ceiling due to noise levels and NOTHING more .
