hi all
just to confirm my times today
11.86@124mph fastest 1/4fwd
167.8mph top speed fastest fwd
as said before it was a cambelt tensioner bolt
which snapped in the head causing the pulley to come off
resulting in 4 bent inlet valves
a big thanks to jc motorsport for the loan of the spec

probably because they had a dot mark on them but i am sure if you read the rules that it states road legal tyres not dot marked
they should make it really clear
then it whould be fair
the times today in my mind where not true times unless run on true road legal tyres
i had cut slicks back at the garage i could have run them they have got a dot mark on them but clearly say for competion use only on them
i think next year a tyre company should sponsor the event and every one run the same tyres at a discounted price and as an insentive people who win there group get a full refund on the tyres
then this will be a truly equal event and whould allow the cosworths to be more compatative
thanks jc
p.s they must make enough money at this event to sort this out entry fees could allow for big savings on the tyres surely with all the publicity this event has and the boost in sales this is feesable

Just downloaded my pics and you can see it clear as day on them. Will post pics up tomorrow as they need resizing for photobucket. All pics are over 2mb each.

Fuel was not a problem, tires had to be road legal

one of the rwd skylines was running FULL slicks on the back, and they were massively outside the arches too!surely road legal means you could pass an MOT as you run it?or have to drive around the local roads in the same trim as you run in before the event(like proper drag racing venues!) this concerned me cos its then NOT the fastest road car,but the fastest drag car you can buy that you can fit road legal bits onto, get an MOT then revert it back to drag spec!!! also think you should have to use same spec tyres on handling and drag!

thanks jc

I'd say although what Ish has posted puts across a good point, I'm quite sure the TOTB organizers were quite aware of the legalities and restrictions on the tires people were using, which would explain their checks prior to anyone running.

The issue with the petrol used was quite clear, most tuners admit that there cars made x amount of h/p on such and such race fuel which on a day like TOTB you can only expect them to use the car to its full potential.

also they were hardly hiding the fact that they were using non pump fuel with stands selling tub loads of the stuff and plenty of jap tuners I noticed had barrels of teh stuff which they were pouring in after each run

I think its unfair when you go to a small event and some guy turns up with race fuel and takes honours for being the fastest but in todays case people should appreciate that to get the most from your car you need to maybe turn up prepared with things like proper tires and proper fuel if your car has been setup on it.

thats my opinion anyway

I've got a set of tread-depth testing gauges here, that were supposed to be used to test every single car that ran as they rolled up to the start line......only one's been opened, and it still looks pretty shiny so I'm guessing it was only used once or twice!

I was nowhere near the start-line, so couldn't do anything about that side of things, unfortunately......only got to watch the very end of the drag-runs, and the shootout finals, turned up just as the Icelandic Scooby was being driven back out of the start-area to put proper tyres on.

Paul J, thats a crackin time dude. My old zetec turbs failed with one of the tensioners aswell mate, did 8 valves.

Congrats to all the Ford lads who took part. Personally dont think a ford will ever win this event but what exactly does that say!

Enjoy what you've got lads, the winners dont get remembered for long!

well done ford boys for doing your best, specially lee, jc, paul... etc, unlucky to the numerous cars which had problems before and during the event and didnt do their hard work justice, its a bit of a lottery and other non-ford cars were retiring due to failiures too, so dont be too disheartened.

event itself was slightly dissappointing as in the fact that there was mental queuing and no where near enough seats, would have thought that would be better sorted as its now in the 4th year and interest is only gonna get bigger.

no disrespect to our guys who ran but it never seems to fall in place for the ford boys and we end up having a weakened line up. we need more of the 'ford tuners' demo cars in attendance to be competitive as thats what most of the other non-ford 'competitive' cars are.

hopefully next year reyland and lots of others will be there putting these jap ponies in their place with some proper stallions.

right im off to buy me lottery ticket so i can get my car competitive

I feel for you Rod, but tramp will kill ANYTHING, and can't be factored out . I suppose the thing to have done was a burn-out to warm the tyres, to prevent tramp, as it seems to mainly happen when tyres are cold .

Here's me gearbox nose cone after tramp on cold (slick) tyres shock loaded it. This was just accelerating hard in second gear on my out lap at Snetterton - only 500bhp as well....

I watched until the end and was rewarded with seeing Keith Cowie beat his personal best with a 9.30s @ 160mph - new European record .

You thought correct about the Reyland boys (but it needed a few tweeks, but for various reasons, they just ran out of time).

However, I have always maintained that my 450bhp isn't enough to compete at TOTB. I would rather compete in an event (like GT Battle), where the car's strengths shine , as I scared of breaking it by doing big launches .

Me and Rob (sbd16v) had a good day with his astra.
Sadly we suffered from ignition problems and i just couldnt dial in any more power even though the car was ready for it.

Still 12.60 was a personal best for him, and the 121mph terminal certainly shows a lot of potential, its currently the fastest road legal astra in the country now i believe, and i think the first time he runs at pod it will be the fastest road legal fwd vauxhall as that stands at 12.59 currently, and he will shave a couple of tenths off from the better surface at the pod judging by past runs.

Absolutely gutted for Rod, that was such a horrible way for it to end.

Shame he didnt take it steady and get a reasonable top speed run in first, just to have a decent result in the bag, but fair play to him and mark for their "all or nothing" attitude.

Me and Rob will definately be back next year for another go, hope Rod changes his mind and comes along too

No mate. 1.5litre 4wd automatic as standard, no RWD corollas that shape.

Regarding countrys they from- DONT MATTER

Regarding tyres- As long as they DOT approved then they useable at TOTB, technically road legal or not...

Scoobys were the best for me, some proper silly fast ones, the Iceland one was a real piece of kit, proper professionally made, everything thought of

RC Evo did a 10.5 and 199mph 2up with Tim Westwood in the Passenger seat Loved the rear wiper hole converted into a fuel tank breather, and could see the fumes coming out of it all the time

2 Skylines in the 9s too

Do you have a Jag Diff flange on one end. Also these are way beyond the Zoo uprated shafts they were made as a 1-off by Zoo & as strong as could be made.

Yeah, I run the Jag diff setup as well Rod, but from what you say, I suspect yours would have been stronger than mine.......... might have allowed a top speed run, but I suppose at those speeds, you're taking no chances.

Would have to ask Brom exactly their spec...........

Also one of thing, Nick Lewis's Front Mounter on his Saff

RS500 Job wasnt upto the job, so put a proper EVO style front mounter on (behind a combat front bumper which is jus perfecto for a front mounter) and now no more high charge temps

If it was the cooler it looked like to me, it dont cost owt either
