From what ive heard the MCP difficulty depends on how many people they want to pass that month, a bit like your odds of getting caught speeding, so it depends on luck a bit.
but either way its a well respected qualification in the industry so thats what matters

no no no my misinformed nobber. There are plenty of MCP exams to do... well in excess of 2 when you have passed a certain amount, then you become an MCSA, then when you have passed them all, you become an MCSE. You dont sit an exam to become either an MCSA or an MCSE.
plank.
And this is besides the point. Cola posted to congratulate me on my acheievment. I never said i was an mcsa or an mcse, ive mearly taken a step towards it. Everyone alse was nice enough to congratulate me as well. So if you havent got anything nice to say, fuck off the thread.

How long does the MCSE course take to finish?
There is a lot of study to be done for the MCSE certification. There are 7 exams which you have to pass to become and MCSE. That is why Oxford House Computer Training offers this course over a period of 7-8 months. It may take you longer to study and pass the exams. But with us, usually it takes 7-8 months to scheudule all lectures for all 7 modules and complete the lectures on these modules. We give you a period of 1 year to schedule all your MCSES modules.
http://www.oxfordhouse.co.uk/neo_faq.asp
The whole reason this is such an acheivement is the fact that im probably the least techie/computer geek person you'll ever meet! And I had ZERO lectures to do it... you had 8 days of lectures... andin all that time, you still didnt learn what you needed to become either an MCSE or an MCSA. PRIZE plank
now, please leave

First of all ‘Silky’, cheers for attempting to ruin this congratulatory post for my fella. I do like a good bicker on the board, but it is more fun if the other person has a clue what they’re talking about. So if you have a moment, please try and keep up whilst I talk you through a few things.
As Dave has pointed out there is no one exam for the MCSE. There are seven. Different versions of MCSE ie 2000 or 2003 need a different mix of core and elective exams) Read here to get YOUR facts straight: http://www.learningtree.co.uk/mcse/index.htm
Again read the link above Cherub.
Sweetheart, as pointed out on this post he is not a techie. He had to do it for work as well. You are not the only one in this big wide world who got sent for work.
Ha Ha Ha. Seriously if I was so wrong so repeatedly I would have disappeared off line by now, but just in case you have no shame at all and are still reading:
1: You seem to be too stupid to grasp that you are wrong.
2: Darlin, if you did two exams and passed two exams that would mean you have two MCPs, not one. That’s one per exam. Do you follow?
3: Another eight exams? So that would be ten in total yeah? Wow, that’s even more than you need for an MCSE!
First of all I assume you mean passed and not pasted? Secondly, one of the two exams? My your way of qualifying is more mysterious as Microsoft’s own. Actually, just a thought, have you got your certificate to hand? Just think it might be an idea to check it’s real and not written on the back of a Rizla or summat, cos I think you’ve been done mate.
Anyway, now YOU bore ME. And it’s my post and I’ll argue back if I want to.
To quote Big Brother ‘At the end of the day’ did your mother teach you any manners at all? This was meant to be a nice post and I see no need for your bad manners. Do you enjoy belittling other people’s achievements? If so you’re a very sad man.
Are you short?
PS: A point well made Rich

Why would there be more? After taking ten exams to pass become an MCSA you could take over the world lol.

Congrats DaveyBoy. Going for MCSE over the next 2 years myself.
What did you do to get MCP?
I have read on the Micro$oft site that you only need to pass the XP exam to get MCP when going for MCSE 2003
These are the ones I am going for:
Exam 70–290: Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment
Exam 70–291: Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure
Exam 70-293: Planning and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure
Exam 70-294: Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure
Exam 70–270: Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows® XP Professional
Exam 70-298: Designing Security for a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network
Exam 70-284: Implementing and Managing Microsoft Exchange Server 2003

silky you are not correct
this is the coursework for one MCP exam i did when i did my MCSE
You need to do quite a few of these to get an MCSE, some can be multiple choice but not all are easy.
this one i keep at work as i use the info in it all the time
Big up to daveyboy
