Default help with a problem

a mates FRST is absolutley pleuming what seems like white smoke from the exhaust on tick over which has only just started happening. Not too long ago the car did over heat etc

is this a sign of the h/gasket gone tits up? as we looked at the dip stick and oil cap and couldnt see any signs of water droplets/mayonase type symtoms

he hasnt been using the car of late but when he was did had to fill the header tank reguraly coz was loosing water this was after it had over heated

i just had this on the missus frst took the head off thinking it was gonna be the gasket but found it to be 2 cracks between the valves on the middle 2 cylinders. but the smoke on this one only happened once the car had warmed.. not cold.. but also had similar problem with an inlet manifold gasket leaking through the waterway into the ports... the garage tested this on the meter said H G gone but i just changed inlet gasket and all was fine..

he said it meant that water was being burned but was through the head gasket leak but was found to be leaking through the two inlet ports either side of the waterway on the inlet manifold

Its also possible its the turbo instead mate - especially as there are no other signs of the headgasket having gone!!

Not necessarily mate - remember water passes through the turbo too!!! I have seen on a couple of turbo'd cars the same symptoms & it turned out to be the turbo!!

Worth trying before whipping it all apart tho if you've got a spare one between you!!
