Default ALCON 6 PLATE CLUTCH......

When I fitted the new engine, I fitted it with an Alcon 6 plate clutch. I know these take time to bed in, but how long do they take before they stop slipping ??????

Oh Yes, were up an running

Mine didn't slip from day one, albeit you do have more power than me, Jim. Did you get the flywheel surface ground, and which cover are you using for the clutch?

Flywheel was surface ground, And using AP Clutch Cover as recomended by Karl. Will check the ratchet mechanisum tomorrow.

Did hear of these taking time to bed in though.

It may take time to bed in but it should not slip
If everything was flat it should be A1
I bet its the clutch cable
if you were using an old flywheel it may slip for a while until it beds in
Abit like brake pads on old discs
There a bit shit until bedded

Hoping it's just a matter of betting it in. Pressure plate was almost new, and flywheel was surface ground. Will check clutch cable ratchet (Fucking hat those things) and see how it goes.

God does it come on boost early and with a huge surge. Only wish to clutch would stop slipping........ Then I'd get an idea how it's really going to go. And this isn't set up yet, just 23psi with a 5500rpm limit on the chip. Once I've been back to Karls in a few hundred miles I'm confident this is going to fly .

Matt.... Your welcome anytime mate. Will have to check the ratched, coz I know the flywheel and pressure plate are ok

Thinking about it, the clutch pedal does seem different (Higher pedal) than before

And using AP Clutch Cover as recomended by Karl
Just for you Matthew

Hopefully it's something simple, Jim. Algik may be on to something re: the clutch cable/ratchet.

Good luck

Jim if the cable has adjusted itself too tight you should be able to reset it by clicking the pedal all the way upwards!

Correct procedure:
Hold the pedal all teh way up and have an assistant pull teh cable out of teh bulkhead in the engine bay about 5".

Now realease the pedal in the car.

Finally, let the assistant slowly feed the cable outer back into teh bulkhead, and as they do so, you should hear the ratchet mechanism set itself.
