Default Damsel in distress!!! Wireless connection help?

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease someone put me out of my misery and tell me what the fook im doing wrong to get my wireless router talking to my ISP.

Im not an IT wizz but I do have a good basic understanding and I cant for the life of me figure out what im doing wrong.

Ive moved house and changed my connection phone number, Tiscali have (finally) enabled the line to DSL.

Ive managed to eventully get connected using the Sagem modem they sent me a year or so ago but my BT Voyager 2100 wireless router wont connect to the net. Ive got excellent signal strength, ive checked all my internet & LAN settings and they look correct to me (altho my ISP password keeps changing itself so I need to keep manually over typing it )

I dont know what im doing wrong.............. any takers?? (pretty please?)

there are loads of settings like encapsualtion settings and "VC" settings that should have come with your router. maybe its those?

I'm a male in distress, sexual frustration so get your tits out and I'll consider it.

You should only have to specify if you ISP requires a login and obviously put in your username and password *Note* the username is not your email address!

That will all be sorted automatically on connecting.

im being serious here guys

Ste - my username IS my email address, its Tiscali Broadband.

The set up worked fine at my old house and I havn't changed the settings, the Voyager unit has power, DSL and Wireless lights all illuminated, and the Laptop is receiving the wireless signal perfectly, it just seems the router wont talk to the ISP.

Do I need to change the connection telephone number anywhere for wireless or does that only matter for dial up?

Go to start>run, type in cmd then hit return.

Type ipconfig /all

post up the results here but use .*** on the last octet so nobody can see your full IP.

Thats Gay, I knew cisco had absorbed linksys but didn't realise they were influencing the kit that much, no home user should ever be troubled with anything along those lines.

DO NOT buy the one i have. its a linkysys WAG54G, and its bollox. keeps dropping the adsl line, and hardly ever holds line negotiation.

Netgear are cool for the home user.

Just the router, make sure you get a router with a similar standard i.e. b +g

I'd suspect you've set it up wrong if it keeps dropping off, phone your isp and clairify the settings.

i mean there is no specific dial-in number for adsl that you have to put in like there is for dial up that you have to type in. it is done by username.

Yes you can, and its not called DOS anymore.

Right click in the cmd line mode, select 'mark' highlight what you want to copy then right click again. You will now be able to paste the text onto here.

I didn't mention anything about a phone number, thats why she need to type IPCONFIG /ALL rather than TELEPHONENUMBER /WHAT IS IT?

Hold on a second.

Which part on the 'wireless' isn't working?

The wireless part or can you connect through wireless and not get onto the internet? or all of the above?

I didnt realise that was in response to what I wrote, sorry, what I mean is do I need to tell it to connect via my new telephone number (as it has changed) or does it just need a DSL enabled line, is the actual landline number irrelevant?

Good thinking old chap, its late

Claire, is there a log available on the router, that would be much more helpful.

i think the landline number is irrelevant, as long as tiscali know about it and have enabled the line.

As I posted originally, the wireless part is working fine, the router just doesnt seem to be communicating with the ISP.
