i got the envelope open..... but still would anyone be so stupid to put 1500 quid in an envelope that was insured for only 500 quid
I don't think so... Many envelopes with money are empty as they come to the receiver..... I am serieus thinking of going to England and get my stuff....
But that way I paid for transportcosts that never were there so he has to pay me that back... but if I am going would there be some guys that would help me because mine english isn't that good

The reason I suggested he changed the title was to attract more interest in the thread. Lots of us are known on here through people and any thread concerning money seems to attract attention.

I am not accusing anyone of anything in this thread merely questioning some actions and saying its an insane idea to put 1500quid in an envelope but.....

I think we should keep this on the first page of General Discussion for Johans sake. He has one point of contact with the UK which is this site to try and get back 1500quid. Not sure what the requirements are for stickies but if people can bump it to keep it on the first page until it is resolved. The man struggles with his English and trusted a fellow PFer.

Thanks in advance guys and girls

The envelop was sent signed for delivery. It was 3 envolopes within each other. The cash was sent as I was going to be charged £65 notes to send it. And the maxium I could insure was for £500 to holland.!!

Ref: RI 5688 3884 2GB.

No I still have no enginbe back with me and for all I know you could now have both the engine and the cash!! I dont have time to be on the board all day and replie to pm's as soon as I get to read them! Perahps its u thats the con artist as im now left with nothing!

Im sure if you had spoken to Johan first then he would of payed the £65.00 fee for the bank transfer rather than you send £1500 cash through the mail which to me is a complete act of lunacy!!

The fact you have provided a tracking number means absolutely nothing as you could have just sent an empty envelope recorded delivery.

I dont know whether you sent the money or not but at the end of the day the way I see it is that if you did you did so at your own risk and therefore still owe Johan £1500.00.

you never sent that money imo i think you sent a recorded delivery empty envolope NOBODY IN THERE RIGHT MIND would send £1500 in an envolope and like you would knowing that it was only insured for £500 the odds are against you

He's deleted my account

Demondave, You have given very little information about how you sent the engine, who with and what you are doing about finding it. Also pass on the details so that someone else can make calls to verify your story.

Re the money, are you following up a claim for at least the £500 then? Again, details of how that can be checked.

If you are genuine, then you won't mind giving these details.

Deleting my account on your board makes you look guilty as well mate

So Demondave you are 3000pounds down now, is that what you are saying?

If you were already 1500 down from the engine having not been refunded, why would you risk sending 1500 quid in an envelope to Johan.

Do you have any proof of 1500 cash coming from anywhere? Did you take a picture of the envelope before it was sent with the cash in?

I have just lodged a visa application here and rather than risk anything as the doucments are one offs, there is a picture of everything.

yes I will be persuing the the claim. As for sending the cash it was done for the quickest way to resolve the problem. Somthing which i have sent many times before and never had any problems!! With regards to people beliveing i sent it. I couldnt care less if u dont beleve me. At the moment im £1500 cash down and an engine etc.!

If someone sent me cash that way and it never arrived then as far as i am concerned it would still be their responsibility to pay it! As has been said no-one in their right mind sends that amount of cash just in an envelope un-insured especialy to someone they don't know from a foreign land!!!
Prove you sent the whole £1500 or you still owe it imo!

It can't be left like that though Dave. I'm glad you're getting the engine back but that leaves this situation...

You have sent a refund by a very unreliable method which he has never received. From an outsider's perspective either of you could be lying but there is no denying that there is still a matter to be resolved. You need to report the money missing at least

How can he NOT be out of pocket? he paid you £1500 in good faith and has nothing to show for it.

You are the one in error in all this so pay the man his money back and be done with it.

Simple solution to this is as follows :

Johan, watch Resevoir Dogs twice and pay a visit to the isle of wight

The way I see it, Johan paid £1500 for an engine, and received nothing. Now, if, as DemonDave say's, he has the engine, then the company / courier that you sent it with, will have a Proof Of Delivery, which you can confirm that it has been signed for.

You will also have Proof Of Delivery for the money sent by Royal Mail / Courier that you used. And, if, as Johan say's, the envelope is empty, you can get the £1500 back, and send it by the proper means.

Now, if you use a little bit of common sense you might just work out between you what has happened.

Good luck

Must admit if what he says is true i feel quite sorry for Demon Dave, but i still feel that its his responsibility to send the funds again by a more reliable means and just treat the 1000 quid he has lost (1500 - 500 insurance) as good value for a very valuable lesson in how not to send cash in future.

If it was sent as just a 'signed for' packet or envelope then proof of delivery means fook all as the envelope could have been sent with fook all in it! Yes he can prove an item was sent but not what was in it Dan!
Also he says he only insured it for 500 quid so trying to get 1500 back from the PO will prove fruitless

I was onlyt able to insure for £500. Perhaps pay a trip to your local PO and find out for your self. I will be contacting PO with reagrds to insurance. IU have prrof of deliver postage for the cash that was sent! But how can I be sure that money wasnt recvied ? I can understand that if it wasnt it is down to me to lose.
