Default What pistons 4 a 1.8 ZVH

Hello i brought a engine off paul r on here and i what to get it in the car but i cant work out what pistons it has in it they have a ford logo on them so i think they are standard zetec ones but someone has ground valve cut outs in them. im a bit worried that i will rebuild it and fit it and it may go bang.
Does anyone know what pistons people use in the 1.8 zvh, the engine came out of a series 1 on cossy management that paul was going to restore.

Cheers
Rich

they need to be machined down to a compression ratio of 8:1 at the lowest,if not id try maybe getting hold of some calibra turbo pistons as ive heard these also do the job!!

It's a question I don't really know the answer to! There's no definate easy soloutions for the 1.8s it seems.

I have used std pistons skimmed myself in the past. Not ideal, but works and is cheap

People use spacer "decompression" plates with std pistons, again, not strong, not ideal, but seems to work

Accralite pistons, not come accross these myself, but heard nothing good, and lots bad about people using them in 1.8s

Nothing from Vaux like the Calibra pistons will go straight in

Arias may make pistons for the 1.8, probbaly a safe bet there! I'd do that.

It's a shame 1.8s are everywhere, cheap....just doesn't seem to be a clear-cut soloution for them

Many Thanks

cr= (cylinder volume+compressed volume) divided by compressed volume
according to burtons

BigWig is correct.

Have a read of this: https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=119441

A post about how to measure CRs in the Technical Essay Section (some great reading material there)
