Default Back from Combe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a fantastic day!

Realied what I've been missing not doing a track day in so long!

So:

Did anyone see my MR2 have an absolutely massive spin quite early in the morning?

That is a properly fast circuit - so much bumpier than anywhere else I've driven, and so little run off! Had a thoroughly enjoyable 6 or 7 track sessions - plenty of sideways, although I must admit to backing off ever so slightly after witnessing Dave's accident up close

MR2 is not a patch on the cossie - it definitely doesn't like the hot weather too much, and you really have to catch the slides on this thing mega early!

Thanks for a cool day to: Paul Eggleton and his Dad for helping me out all through the day - that saved me so much grief - cheers fellas

Thanks to all the organisers for putting on a very cool day.

Thanks to Renton and Sona for laying on a lovely BBQ at very short notice - superb hospitality! Cool TV too

Only gripes if I'm allowed to make a couple, is that signing on took far too long, and the queue to get out on track was a joke. 12 cars per session a 2 mile circuit? I had some sessions where I was just out on my own for the whole time - great for me on track, but not for the guys queueing for 90 mins to get out.........

Anyway, nice to meet all the usual suspects, and a few new faces too. Sorry to anyone who didn't get a ride that I'd promised one to (Rich, Dave etc), but I will make sure you get out at National Day.

Gutted for Dave obviously, but fair play for just getting on with it, getting a beer, and thinking about the next car

Anyone get any pics or vids of my MR2 then?

nice to chat yesterday Rich - and yeah, I did pass you on the grass :
Cracking day again, just a shame about the signing-on delays (that EVERYONE was talking about) and queues...
oh... and my dead turbo on the last lap of the day but never mind, i had that coming really, done 4 days there now with no breakages, so shouldn't complain..

Can't believe you've not driven Coombe before!

The reason for the limited cars on track at once will be NOISE! Remember they are oppereating under a noise abatement order at the moment flocking council and shitty locals.

Another reason is that people got sick of coombe letting 30-50 cars out in one session, it was like racing on the m25 in rush hour

ANyway, glad you enjoyed it... now get that taxi of yours going!!!!!

if that's the case then less track passes should have been sold. i waited over an hour to sign on and about the same to get on the track. i did not bother trying to get on the track again after that i have done this event for the last few years but if its the same next year i doubt i will take part which is a shame because normally its one of my favourite events.

Fair play MArtin, I must admit that although I didn't make it this year, other years that i've been there has always been shitloads of cars parked up waiting to go on track, and some there for quite some time!

Steve, know what you mean about the locals mate!

A scooby driving mate said Martoons Reyland Cossie had an off at Coombe the other year and stuffed one side. Is that right as I don't remember hearing anything about it.

The C.Combe workers/officilas said that the reason for only 12 cars out at once was down to bristol/swindon groups not wanting to pay extra insurance for 20 cars
Signing on was a joke too,Didnt have any trouble at Croft like that

And do i mention Dingy's confession on the fri night?

It was at Japfest a few years back

A tyre burst and damaged his N/S/F wing , so Martin tore the remains of wing off and went out again and then had a minor incident where he cracked the O/S/R lense and slightly dented the 1/4 panel but certainly wasnt anything to write home about

quite true... i tried my and at driving the car in the pouring rain with full boost, the result was enevitable ... i slid it sideways into the tyres, the impact felt really bad from inside the car but lucky for me the damage was limited to a broken rear lamp and a minor scratch on the rear quarter panel... both of which i left until the pre gumball tidy up

I have a few pics of your MR2 - nothing brilliant but if you want me to send
them pm your email address and I will.
Saw your spin just after Camp Corner into the corn.
Also enjoyed the arm twirling a la "Magnus Pyke" coming out of Quarry...
They don't look too forgiving on the limits

Cheers

Top day out especially chasing you Cossies around in my 16V Golf....a great laugh

Quite a few valvers were there too as was Bill in his ultra quick Yellow Ibiza...1.19 and below per lap.

I managed to get into 1.22-1.24. Caught the silver Scoob the Gold MK1 valver on TB's and passed them

There were some very quick cars with serious investment...think I'll stick to my normally aspirated valver...cheap and cheerful
