Sparks abit much for my liking, wouldnt feel confident in putting this on
is this the usual? Would it help putting positives and then negatives on, or would this just cause the negatives to spark??? please helpppppppp

Always connect positive first when re-connecting. it will spark when your connecting it back up, just press it onto the terminal and tighten it up - quicker you do it less it will spark

Make sure EVERYTHING on the car is switched off.

Big sparks mean big current draw and if is a big short circuit (like the alternator) then it can mean a big fire or at least a big cloud of smoke and a big re wire.

Bit difficult to suggest anything without seeing it to be honest. Check over any wiring you might have trapped..........

Batteries usually make a small amount if sparks when connecting them but if the sparks take lumps out of the battery terminal then it's pretty serious...
