My wheel bearing was well and truely fooked!
I thought I had a problem with my brakes in that they needed bleeding as they were shite!
Now the bearing is fixed it does seem a lot better and the brakes seem fine! Is this mind over matter or fact?
ps. It feels faster too

Be careful you haven't worn the hubs - this is a common problem with mk4 Escort's when you run them with knackered wheel bearings for a while.
If all is ok now then it's probably fine - if it's not then you'll notice vibration in the steering wheel at higher speeds.
I have had just this problem with my mk4 Cabriolet recently - if only my Dad had bothered to change the wheel bearing when it first started going!
Cheers,
Andy

Thanks Andy
Yeah I think I had those replaced too! The bit the wheel bolts onto has been done anyway! He said when the bearings go it usually wears these down so I got new ones

ive found the backs hum but cannot hear when the fronts are going i think the drums make it louder, best way is to jack it up grab the wheel 1 hand on the top 1 on the bottom and pull and push try n wobble if thier movement shes on her way or loose may be that it just needs tightening with a socket remeber when fitting new bearings check them about a week later to make sure thier tight and score the locking nut with a hammer n chisel so it cant move
