Rs200 replicas...??
would you buy one....?? theres one in top marques for 16k and i might go look at it. Its P reg running a high spec cossie lump. Got bills for over 30k on the build, and its got carbon wings and panels etc.
Do you recon its worth 16k im just thinking about buying it as it does look good and its look very different.
I no the aRSe bandits club wont let it in but going down the rd youd think it was real
And no its not the maestro based on

If it's the same kit as the one the bloke I bought the Puma Racing seats from is building then yes go for it because at a glance you would think it was real.
By the way is my wall unit ready?

i kno it would be quick and all... but i personally dont see the point in it.. its still not 'real' no matter how much you want it to be.. and that sort of puts a downer on things when you will of just spent 16k on it
If however its just the fun factor and speed your after and it has a very high spec YB then why not!

I really thought you were a man of taste!!!
Why spend 16k on a shonky KIT CAR.... lets not forget thats what it is. It will have loads of little niggles and foibles. Stuff like thats always a nightmare to sell on. Especially when real ones are not that much more!!
Don't care how much he has spent on it, it will be shonky!!!
DON'T do it! be sensible and get an Evo or M3.
I feel like we may have to drive over and all queue up to slap you back into shape like they did in Airplane!!!
Rant over, I'm actually going to have a look at the car on the website now

How can you all go on about it not being "real"???? I shouldn't think there's many cars on here that haven't been rebuilt with aftermarket parts, patent parts, performance parts etc etc etc.....
Especially Porkie man! A Car with loads of little niggles and foibles???? Isn't that what Fords are all about? If my S2 started first time, everytime I got in it, I would be bored stiff of it in 5 minutes. I would also think someone swapped it for another car, but thats besides the point...
Buy the Kit Car. If you don't you'll grow old wishing you had.

Joe@Bluesprint is a good one to ask about these Cossie powered RS200 reps, when i used to b there a lot there was always loads there, inc some BIG power ones (and REAL RS200s, inc an EVO).
He never liked em, said was horrible to drive compared to real RS200s.
Only thing i remember was he said the pedal arangment was totaly shit, but there was more to it than that.
BUT they looked awesome to me, not becuase of what it was pretending to be, but cause it was a small, low, mid engined thing that looked well cool and had a fappin powerful cossie engine in it (I remember a T4 on one).
Easy to work on the engine with a rear clamshell back too
Dont think id pay 16k for one tho...

For 5k it might be worth a laugh but why spend proper money that you won't get back on a shonkily designed kitcar when you can get a car like an Evo thats usable everyday, faster around a track and should be 100% reliable.
Glad you found out from someone else how pony it drives Jason, good decision matey

Jason,
Porkie has some very valid points there. I'ts too easy to look at these things with rose tinted glasses...........
In the cold light of day 16k would buy you one of the following cars that would be a much more practical road/occasional trackday car then a real RS200...let alone the kit/clone thing that you are thinking of buying:
RS500
Escort Cosworth
BMW M3 (3.2 evo)
Mitsubishi EVO6/6.5/7
Audi Quattro 20 Valve Turbo
Audi S4 2.7 Twin Turbo
Lotus Elise Sport 160 or 111S
BMW Mini Cooper S
Honda Civic Type R
Seat Leon 1.8 20V Cupra R
Lotus Carlton
Subaru RB5

I saw a modified (kit, wheels, lights, exhaust, etc) Ford Lightning steaming down the M5 on sunday, the maddest sight u ever seen, the things bigger than a fookin minibus but was doing BIG speeds down the outside lane, looked awesome.
Get one of them then (Not like i have a clue what they cost, lol)
