Is it a legal requirment to have 2 working headlights during the daytime, im asking coz ive taken out my passenger headlight and fitted an air scoop.

Ive driven past a few police cars on my way to croft and back last weekend and no-one bothered but a few others have said its illegal.

My guess is that for the car to pass an MOT it needs working headlights on both sides which would mean that they need to be fully working in the day as well as nite.

However, maybe you could get away with fitting a set of sidelights in the indicators?

ive heard this "daylight MOT" thing mentioned lots, for roadlegal race/rallycars and so on, but police still will do you for it in my experience, and precicley for the reasons chop just put.

but fuck it, its only a fine, im gonna be doing it when its daylight, its only a 10min job at most to remove and refit headlight on my car...

Yes the police will stop you. I got pulled for having mine fitted in the middle of the day in blazing sunshine.
Copper massively overeacted as well.

Thay gave me a Vehicle Rectification order. Basically had to go to an MOT station and pay them to stamp the form then drop in in to the local station to prove that I'd put the light back in.

I was talkin to you just before you left croft and also I think you have got a sweet ride if the cops pull you up for that its just out of order i mean you dont exactly need them in daylite unless theres one of them eclipse things but then eclipses would be all over the news wasting telly and stuff sometimes i just hate cops when they find your stolen ride its not so bad

Personally is it worth the bother? If it gives you say (made up figure) 10bhp is it really gonna make that much difference if a car is 210bhp or 220bhp? I seriously would put the headlight back in and fit the bonnet back to standard.

I think the chrome work and tubular manifold you have shows serious amounts of work gone into it, where that bonnet and headlight mod just look gash, boy racer. If yours is only a track car then fair enough, but on the road most will just laugh.

I Got a produceer for not havin a bonnet on my Xr2 Turbo as they said it had to have one to pass the MOT therfore it had to be on it for it to be road worthy.....

made me wait 20mins for traffic police to confirm it though so if ya get a stupid copper u could prob blag it lol

yeh id take the bonnet things off... looks like its misaligned lol... put em on again for track etc...

as for the scoop, i quite like it... was thinking of gettin one for mine... not sure though, is it worth the hassle???

Nah leave the bonnet blocks on they do help heat escape..
