Jenny, yeah cally is coming with me and craig

I think he still has one spare seat.

PM him and ask, but i guess you will have to pay 1/4 towards fuel or something like that, you can save money by sharing a room with me and cally though, i dont mind

Stu,
This one is going to be popular then .

Best PM ON-UJAH and get him to sort you out a cheap B&B sharpish, before all the spaces go.

Also, I think Chip was going to book somewhere different this year, so might be worth checking with him...

Were not staying at the ring this time. There are 36 of us staying in cologne as we do every september. Strip joints, night clubs cant beat it, would get a bit boring with 36 lads i think wondering round such a small place, plus we have a night in the dam booked as well.

Cant believe that hotel is fully booked stu mentioned as it is one big hotel

Ryanair are offering flights for 19p, on the 8th, and again coming back for 19p on the 13th - so if people don't have a car it's no reason not to come - like I said I can do a taxi service, and will be willing to take people up to the 'ring and back on the weekend. Maybe even a couple of laps in the people carrier! Accomodation is about 15 quid a night self catering to 25 quid a night for the best hotel rooms with balcony and breakfast buffet. Complete holiday apartments are available for familys or love triangle groups like Chips.

You'll have a better holiday because you'll stay on the Moselle and there is good food, wine tasting, sigts to see etc. Nothing against Nurburg itself but to be honest it only really caters to the petrolhead market.

I can organise a propper bus and discounts if a larger group want to take this option.

If any of you work or know bus companies, and want to arrange a bus, let me know I can arrange special rates. Drivers always eat and sleep for free too.

The Holland event is about 2 hours drive from here, I know where the campsite is where the majority of the car clubs meet up, again if there is enough interest I'd do the driving.

The airport is about 60km away, and the ring is about 45km away. Both are nice country road drives, and to the ring you can go on the autobahn which is unrestricted to test the top speed legally.

Car hire is perfectly acceptible on the ring, and not expensive if you book early online - wear out a whole set of tyres and don't even worry about it! You don't need huge amounts of power to have fun

I generally drive about 40mins to get to the track.

Köln is about 1.5 hours drive away, Koblenz about 35km.

Sounds perfect, nice one.

What sort of cars can you hire, anything mildly interesting? (ie rwd and 200bhp+)

If you have the money, you can hire a Porsche. People do it all the time.

http://koeln.erento.com/mieten/fahrz..._cars/porsche/

Boxter S for 60 quid a day.

The reason that hotel is booked is because they have a big Driver Training Convention that weekend

Friday to monday is 200 quid. You have to pick up and return in Köln, and you get 300km on the weekend - so your 300 will be gone just from the pickup and return. The rest you pay 50p every km. You need to be over 25, have a valid drivers licence for at least 5 years, and put 1000 down as deposit. Any damage and you are liable for the first 2500 Euros of repairs.

A week is 400 quid with 600km free.

LOL You can get a new Golf for about 5 quid a day, and 10p for every km over 150 per day.

That doesnt sound too bad, although the 2500 excess sounds a bit painful.

Presumabley for other cars its different excess etc.

Something like a 330bmw would be ideal, or possibly an M3

ON-UJAH, can you do me a favour mate?

Can you find me a car that doesnt exceed either of these:
1000 euros excess on the insurance
200 euros a day hire
Nearby to where you are (50 miles or less)

If you know your way around the ring and have experience with such cars, I doubt you'll have any real worries.

I dont have direct connections to car hire firms so don't really know - why not try the UK firms see what they can offer.

It'll be good to meet up with you again Stu and Mike

I doubt you'll find anything more suitable than the Boxter. 2500 euros is only 1500 quid (not much for totally destroying a Porsche), Köln is 1 hour on the train then drive straight to the ring another hour.

In the cheap golf contract you have to pay for a replacement car if you write it off and it is your fault. I think you can pay for extra insurance, it might also be possible to buy insurance in UK that would cover this too.

Sorry I dont know of any hotels within a 10km radius of the ring, but at that time you'll have no problems finding space in a guesthouse or pub rooms.

Chip,
Sorry, but car shows do not interest me any more, so it's entirely up to you about going to Holland .

Clare / Stu,
Try local Tourist Office on 0049 2691 302610. They speak perfect English and are really, really helpful.

Ujah, 2500 euros for totalling a porche sounds like a good crack to me, its the thought of paying 2500 cause some idiot taps it ina hotel car park and clears off that bothers me!
