I have my Banksman, slinger ticket. Handy as fook to have. I dont get the opportunity to use it as much as i'd like. Lot of responsibility. You are responsible for the safe lifting of the load and also your own safety, the crane drivers safety and any one else in the immediate area.
Well worth having imo

work with mobile/ tower cranes all the time where did u get 5k from? thats a bit steep lol

if you are an appionted lift co-ordiantor that is worth haveing but u need experiance.

if you havent done any lifting and think that those micky mouse tickets are any use you will find things difficult as you need experiance.

if you go on a site without any experianced help to get u going u may find things difficult depending on what your liftiing.ive worked in ship yards, building sites, confined spaces lifting some realy wierd stuff.

if its basic building site work u should be ok ask for assistance if lifting anything your unsure about as ive seen some stuff that will make your hair stand on end by inexperianced people

what exactly are u after? if you have worked with cranes for 12 years u should be experianced enough to have a ticket.

never heard of any recommended sight requirments to be a banksman unless your blind it may effect your promotion chances

what tickets u got for folklifts? and what machines?

if i was you get a telehandler license there fetching goodmoney and there the most important person on a building site

being a banksman isnt a great job to be honest alot of responsabilty, and all u get is grief from other trades asking for a lift then they get upset when u say you can do it cuz your not insured etc etc.

you sound like you know what your talking about, being a lift planner/co ordiantor is another job as you can then do method statements for local steel work companies such as mine who hasent got any one quailified as its an expensive ticket.

so basiaclly just sub contrcat yourself out

demolition is very good money as well, need to know what your doing ie dealing with old structures idetifying aspestos etc ( should be told but often seen isolated pockets of the stuff pop up ).

imo anything to do with construction is going to go crazey money wise as its all bloody ticket this ticket that.

i had to do a slingers refreser course last year and the examiner didnt even know how to sling a steel coloume from horizontal to vertical and he was teaching us... i shown him and said he was shit and should think about a changeof job.

then.. it gets better.. the mewp ticket now must have 500 logged hours that stupid course cost £400 i think.... then when our pay rise talks come along our boss goes on about all these course that are eating into his prophits.. i can see where hes coming from.
