Very nice Escort Cossie for sale on the MLR - stunning!
IMO one of the downsides to PassionFord is that the £ 20 Gold Member fee makes it difficult for someone that is virtually giving a very nice car away (i.e. selling it at bargain price) to justify paying for the privilage.......
Could this be why it's so rare to see cars like this advertised here on PassFord?
Escort RS Cosworth Lux 74k miles
Time to sell my Escort to look for an Evo 6 or 7.
Bought this as "inbetween" car, after selling my Evo 5. I've always wanted one, and this is one of the better one's! But I'm now going on to look for a 6 or a 7.
Here goes...
1993 Escort RS Cosworth (Lux model) with GGR335 conversion
Firstly the GOOD POINTS:
- Genuine 74,000 miles with meticulous FSH
-Serviced as follows
- 1604 miles
- 9628 miles
- 15,732 miles
- 19,025 miles
- 22,435 miles
- 26,125 miles
- 29,912 miles
- 34,904 miles
- 37,849 miles
- 41,595 miles
- 43,226 miles
- 47,899 miles
- 50,006 miles
- 53,497 miles
- 55,612 miles
- 59,033 miles
- 66,939 miles
- 69,868 miles
- Comprehensive maintenance folio with the following:
- Original vehicle order form and delivery form
- Reciepts for approx. £3500 in maintenance, servicing and upgrades
- Every MOT from new
- HPI certificates (fully clear)
- Pile of tax discs
- Private "COS" number plate worth £700 included.
- Mallard green metallic bodywork in excellent condition
- Professional modifications by Graham Goode Racing in Leicester as follows:
- Additional “babyboard” and Eprom
- Group A fuel pump & Green injectors
- 3 bar MAP sensor
- 2 port Oil Breather System and Catch Tank
- Type 31 actuator
- GGR stainless exhaust and downpipe
- GGR induction filter
- Koni adjustables and -25mm springs
- Lux spec including full black leather Recaro interior and electric pack etc. Leather is all in good condition, with the rear seat basically like new. The driver seat has the usual wear marks on the bolster (can email photos if required) but its by no means bad.
- Category 1 alarm and tracker.
- Fully HPI clear. NEVER damaged.
Now the BAD POINTS
- Not sure whether to describe this as a bad point or a good point.......the car has had the front end professionally resprayed for stone chips. It was never damaged. I suppose it's a bad point since it means the paintwork is not original, but a good point since the stone chips from 12 years of motoring are gone and the car looks mint. The paint is a superb job. You'd probably never know.
- Some light bulbs needing replaced on the dash board......I have the new bulbs but I haven't had a chance to change them. Probably a half hour job.
- As anyone will know who knows about Escort Cosworths, the lower rear spoiler suffered from "micro-blisters" where the paint reacted with the plastic. Most were resprayed but this one hasn't been fixed and so has small blisters at the ends which would need resprayed to make the car spot-on. I'd imagine £100-£150 would sort this. I've made allowance for this in the price.
PRICE - £10,950 to MLR members. Will go in Autotrader at a higher price.
- I think this is a realistic price considering other identical cars are for sale at an unrealistic £11,995 and this one also has a £700 number plate included and probably over £5000 spent on upgrades and maintenance.

Do you honestly think he couldnt raise the price of an Escort Cosworth by £20 to make an £11K sale Doug?
More likely he owned a lancer before, and he plans to own a lancer next, and as such is a regular on teh lancer forum and not PF is my guess.
I would have said it was rare to see apparent bargains ANYWHERE.. not just on PF. But then, bargains are usually had BECAUSE they were advertised in the wrong place's, not in spite of the fact

I wouldn't say he is giving the car away either.
Ive seen a fair few esccos advertised over the last couple of months on here that are of higher standard / condition, bigger spec and lower mileage sell for not much more than that amount.
If he genuinely wanted to sell it quickly he'd pay up to advertise on here, or pay Auto Traders extortionate fees.

Doug if you genuinely bleive it would easily fetch a grand extra on here, then why dont you buy it off him, then advertise it on here and sell it for a grand more.
sounds like money for nothing to me, and i know how much you like money, so time to put some of yours where your mouth is i reckon

Es Cossie.........62 replies/3,292 hits - UNSOLD
Es cos - (only 29k miles ).......138 replies/3,724 hits - UNSOLD
Es Cos Monte - on sale for 3 months - UNSOLD
Kevs Es Cos SOLD (after two months)..........
My point being that it hardly seems like the first place a NON PassFord seller would be able to sell his/her Escort Cosworth for FREE let alone pay £ 20 lol..........and that an Es Cos owner wanting to sell his car to purchase a Subaru/EVO/Civic type-R SHOULD be putting it up on here first - say for £ 5.00 per month??????

OK, OK, maybe I'm wrong and PassionFord is actually a fantastic place to buy or sell a performance Ford...........But can we at least agree that it would be better with more buyers and sellers on here?
This is for ME BTW:

So the correct thing for you to do isnt bitch on here like a whining schoolboy its to go out there and convince him to pay to advertise it here.
Or alternatively you could do some sort of "stealth advert" in the general section which everyone reads under the pretense its a discussion.
Like you have anyway
See, i KNEW you werent as stupid as Lewis looks.

Got to admit the way he's presented the advert is spot on, and perhaps a lesson to us all
Loads of clear/concise information.
All very well laid out and detailed.
Loads of good quality pics (no shonky camera phone).
Good points/bad points.
Price.
Contact details etc etc.......Polite replies to those that have shown an interest.......makes we want to but something I dont need
DAMM I've just spent my last £ 11 k on 482 pairs of speaker cabinets

As I suspected. Escort cos price crash !!!!
Just shows, if mint escos's are going that cheap, my "average" condition car isnt worth much even with 18's, AP's, 450+bhp.....
May as well keep it now - Time for GTxx turbo....

hmmm, cant kinda see everyones points to an extent. I think the cheaper cars sell on here pretty well. I have actually bought a couple
Sold a fair few parts on here too, and bought even more! I paid my fees to sell parts off my old fiesta.
Can see Petes point about ebay, lots of fools on there, but think that can go in general too. Obviously its worthwhile selling on here, otherwise traders wouldnt pay.
