Guys, are you all still going to combe on the 9th?
Dont know if you remember but you very kindly offered to take my wife for a lap or 2 of combe.
Is that still ok? Cause I am having real trouble getting her to shut up about it now

However, I'm not bringing the cossie, as it's not quite finished yet, BUT I am on track in an MR2 Turbo if that's okay with ya missus?
Not very quick, but it'll be sideways........ a lot!

I am going yes and yes I will be giving passenger rides BUT and I'm being VERY serious here though. Combe is an incredibly fast circuit with no run offs. Its NOT a circuit I would want my wife going out in a strangers 600bhp car in....
There are people like Mike who won't drive their cars at Combe because they know that if they go off its could be a very BIG accident. I 100% respect that as well.
I only drive at 7/10ths since my crash last year, I have full harnesses and full cage BUT I am just warning you if a tyre blew out at the wrong point on that circuit we could be going into a wall at near 160mph...
I Know this all seems very dramatic but I'm just trying to make you realise its not 100% safe.

Ahh good point Porkie.
I remember when I went out with Jay B there. We didn't come off but he was going round so fast and Dingy NAGGED me into wearing helmet and sleeves on a boiling day that as soon as we pulled in I promptly puked my guts up.
Of course it had nothing to do with the skinful I had the night before. Not ever doing that again

Thought someone somewhere on here said you get frowned upon, even black flagged for drifting on track days?
Correct me if i'm wrong, i'm sure you will

Rubbish - as long as it's done safely, I can't see the problem.
It's not like I'm gonna be doing some proper Jap style tyre smoking drifts! Just sliding the car about here and there...........

combe and goodwood are two of the old school race track still going and as such have very little run off,
if you loose it on the track it could end in heavey damage as many before have seen.
give me a track like donnington any day for safety

She would still like to go out if possible, but she might bottle the ride with porkie once she has seen how quick it is.
Either that or I will say its too dangerous and I will have to go instead.
But, I do agree will the seriousness of the posts

Is a very fast track(well,as fast as you can get in a stg.1 saff ) also very bumpy. I top out at 125 ish on the "straight". Have seen a few very nasty off's there over the last 5 years, does make you think...
#34
I absolutely will be driving at 7/10ths round there, as a couple of people have said how bumpy it can be.
Still, it's all about the fun, and you don't HAVE to be doing 150+ and overtaking everybody to be enjoying yourself!

Exactly!
As long as your drifting round quarry & round camp on to the straight!

A few laps round Coombe will be good for me too, ive STILL never been round a feckin race track, (does street racing various ring roads at 3am in the 3dr count? ) and i got a Khumo Tyres press launch trackday at Rockingham caning round M3s etc on the 12th
Indeed, IF you good at it, the Coombe Marshals LOVE it
They were clapping and cheering phil for his drifting, infact they all stopped and took photos when he did a 2mph rolling burnout all the way down the pits
PON- You tried drifting your MrTwo? Ie properly holding it, rather than a lil wiggle? Rear engine is really not ideal for drifting, but fair play if it can be done

It's very very strange trying to drift it, as it takes so many revs to break the traction on the back end, that when it catches again (which it does fairly easily), you have to be mega mega quick with the wheel to stop a right tank slapper going!
I'm not silly though - just gonna gradually build it up slowly on track, and just enjoy it. I'm also not gonna endanger anyone else, so am only gonna play around with it when I've got space front and back on the track, as there's nothing worse than some muppet sliding the car around at 30mph less than the rapidly approaching car on slicks behind.
