Any builders
Hi all, could any of you kind young men please assist
Just had a survey done on a new property and this is in the general remarks
"There is minor cracking through mortar joints to a small area. We are of the opinion that the movement is long-standing in nature and the risk of further movement taking place is acceptable"
The people who done the survey said if I want them to explain this of go into more depth i'd have to pay for a detailed survey (£400ish)
Is this something to worry about? As i don't wanna wake up and find its fallen apart
Its of 275mm timber frame and brick external skin built in 1980 btw.
Merci
Rick

right i'm not a builder but I am a trainee quantity surveyor, it sounds like you need the area re-pointing to me, there is a technical reason why it happens i'm sure but can't remeber off the top of my head. But i'm sure theres some brickies on here who could sort it for cheap!

nowt to worry about ,"long standing" will be settlement over the years and will only need re-pionting as allready stated Save your pennies ,if it was subsidence your mortgage company would refuse .
I am a bricky by the way

Long standing crack are duw to the general movement of the land...i.e clay shrinking and expanding in dry and wet condtions. If it was anything to worry about I.E Subsidence, then the risk of further movement wouldnt acceptable. So nothing to worry about. Will just need Pointing.
