Default Got my XDA2i... now need advice :)

ok, first things 1st... tomtom

untill they release navigator5 (which i will buy legally, coz i want all the PLUS features) im gonna try a dodgy version, but i obviously gonna need a GPS thingie... any idea what one to go for?

also does anyone have a program that lets you get your HOTMAIL emails on the thing (without using the web browser) ive seena few tools (all you gotta buy) but didnt wanna just use the 1st one i stumbled across on google.

as for cool software etc. anything worth slapping on there?

oh, and if anyone knows much about blackberry type stuff, please tell... i'm using it on the ORANGE network by the way. we do havea blackberry server, but all our blackberrys are on 02 sims... i'm guessing that means i cant use my orange connection to get my emails on it? at the moment its only picking em up thru syncing with my laptop...

can i set it up to use a GORS connection n get it all straight off the exchange server? (we have GPRS connection straight into our network, so dont need VPN settings etc)

blackberry is not the same as what you have mate.. don't think it will work with windows mobile but i'm not 100%.

you can't just use gprs to the exchange server as you need an additional server for exchange to handle mobile clients iirc.

as for GPS - I use a fortuna clip on.. works well. whatever you get, make sure it has Xtrac and sirf. Xtrac is far far superior.. if you use sirf you'll get fuck all signal round town, but sirf is better for power consumption. (that might be the other way round actually.. but just make sure you have both!!) If you are using Tomtom then you'll need a minimum of v 3.07 i think as previous versions don't support windows mobile 2003 SE. (assuming you have the latest version of windows!) Cracks for this version are (or at least have been) harder to come by.

Hotmail - use the browser!!! might be able to use outlook if it came with it but i've never tried.

cool software... get yourself a copy of dvd to pocket pc. then rip movies to 128 or 256 mb mpegs, stick a load of them on a 1gb sd card and watch them on the train/plane/whatever! don't bother qith quake or quake II as although it's a nice idea it's impossible to control. I've got a snes emulator somewhere which is pretty cool.

jimbob

u need to either pay hotmail Ł15/year to get pop functionality, or sign up with many of the free other ones like bluebottle.com etc

stick the gprs monitor that comes with it so u can keep track of gprs usage

ive got voice dial which lets u do stuff like playing tunes by sayin the name or dialling people by saying a name or number

might get a remote control prog that lets u control ANY tv/video/dvd player without being preconfigured. quite funny when say in a pub or at ur nans

wot u think of camera? shit aint it
