Had a very dodgy hard to remove infection too, there were some helpful peeps on PF as search engines didn't really help that much with it, for future reference spybot search and destroy is quite a good free one, downloadable from here:

Another thing that helped get rid of coolwebsearch which mucked up my browser was coolwebshredder http://www.softpedia.com/get/Interne...Shredder.shtml spydoctor was very good at finding the dodgy files, but if you don't pay/register it it wont destroy them, as you say have to manually delete, some dll files are clever, on start up they come back - I used Hijackthis in safe mode and deleted a dodgy .dll file http://castlecops.com/HijackThis.html lets you download this, has a tutorial of what the log means too, anything dodgy you can 'fix'/delete. (R0 files relate to explorer)
This very helpful forum http://amazingtechs.com/index.php?showforum=46

(Dunno if my thread help at all https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...light=#1815834)
