Default GT28 turbo is fooked...GT30 - How much £ + BHP??

I've gotta send Harvey my GT28 cause its died for some strange reason after just 4k miles Thing is, if it gets replaced under warranty then thats fine but if not and I've gotta buy a new turbo, then I'm thinking of going to the next stage, my basic engine spec is:

low comp 7.5:1
long studded
polished and ported head
ahmed inlet cam, std exhaust cam
WRC triple layer head gasket
Grey's
radtec 500 cooler and alloy rad
air 2 air
blah de blah

was running 1.9bar on the GT28 with approx 400BHP

How much are GT30's, can they be used without external wastegate?

How many extra ponies do you think in conjunction with my spec engine?? I was thinking 430BHP????

400 from a GT28, thats no mean feat!

At that level i would go for the GT30 instead, or the GT3071R or something like that.

Cost is about a grand.

430 sound reasonable enough to me.

No idea, but, are you using a d/v ? If not, that could be the reason it died so quickly, Simon (SECS) had similar problems IIRC.

Scott - you will need to change the cam's if you go for the gt30 mate cause those in your car are same as mine - good for t34 - crap for anything bigger.

I remember Mike Rainbird saying not long ago that octane ratings of petrol are dropping so bad that it's becoming very hard to achieve that levels with such a small turbo.

Still levels of Ford tuning I can see here are amazing to me. My car is considered by some a VERY VERY fast car here in Poland, it's very slow in England :-/ It's only problem of money though.

I will have fast one one day

when i ordered there was a few differant versions, i wanted the top of the range one as it needs to be able to cope with around 550bhp, hence i went for the top one, not the budget version

You wait till you hear the fookin row that thing will make when spooling up with that ported shroud inlet- will sound like a fookin jet engine

Actually, semi-ignore me I was thinking of a different turbo

Compressor side its 100% GT30R, but the exhaust housing is a cossie fitment one (.63 EscCossie or RS500? Not sure) rahter than the usual GT30R hosing with the 4 bolt outlet.

Can only presume exhast wheel is a proper GT30R one, ie 60mm 84 trim

What a/r housing is it? GT30Rs come in .63 .82 1.06 but as that looks like a actual cossie ex housing im guessing .63

Leecavturbo-- Its .60 a/r, not a .80!

Itsmeagain, The exhaust housing is a custom cast unit for internal gate the rest is pure Garrett, Mad ade,s 185mph car has this unit on.

Lee, A/R ratio isnt relative to an actual size, ie a .70 isnt necicerily bigger than a .60.

For example, a GT40R has a .58 a/r compressor and is fuckloads bigger than than your one.
