Default GT28 roller bearing turbo, think mines fooked !!!???

was having a little jaunt last nite with one of my mates in his 340BHP stage 3 escos on the motorway and gave chase but couldn't catch him! He was no faster, wasn't pulling away but my car has circa 400BHP !!

Unfortunately there was black/grey smoke from my exhaust and when I got back to our RSOC meeting, once it had cooled down I took the filter pipe off and the shaft has play in it both back and forth and up and down and you can hear the turbo spinning even when the car is idling

Thing is though, it still boosting well up to 1.9bar but I've heard if these turbos blow the bearings, they could fook your whole engine, is this true??

Gonna phone Harvey today as the engine & turbo has only done 4k miles

How fed up of these fookin cars am I !!!!!!!!!!!!

Escyscott - any turno has some play. It maybe fuelling problem to some sensor feilure or something like that if the smoke is blackish. Turbo smoke is usually grey or very light blue to small amounts of oil burning in extreme temperatures. GT-28RS turbos are considered very durable by most people.

you know thats not the truth mate

Azrael, the engine and turbo has only done 4000 miles with 3 oil changes since it was built and was only fully live mapped at the end of April by Harvey and Ahmed which when done ran mint......

gotta take the turbo off and send it down to Harveys to see what he can do

If it's still under warranty then i'll get a new one if its not then its GT30 time and a few extra ponies under the bonnet, then bye bye front diff and gearbox
