Gareth T et al, I don't know hence why I asked. Sponsorship from companies comes in many forms - not just "if you use their products you have their logo down the side of your car." They could have paid for his entrance fees / tyres / maintanence costs etc. in return for a very fast advertising board! So I ask again....

Actualy Ben, when I first read the thread title I thought that he most likely does use Comma Oils as they prob do a huge range.......

But I'm not so sure now......according to the Comma web-site they only do three performance oils, and one of those is for diesels......and the other two are 0W-30 grade (a bit thin)

i think you missed the point. if he turns around and says he doesn't use Comma oil and its shite and he wouldn't even muck his drains out with it it doesn't look good and it'd upset Comma, a paying sponser. i'd think that if he didn't use it, he (or Comma) wouldn't want it common knowledge

I use Comma oil in mine but its not any of the 3 above, have not noticed any differences between that and the Castrol RS I used to use, and the Comma is Ł16 for 5 litres!

Some interesting info from their web-site:

Motorsport association is with Caterham Cars, and the world's fastest production car the Caterham R500 Super Light. In addition to Comma products being Caterham Original Fill, we've also got a long history of backing Caterham Motorsport's premier race category, the Caterham Superlight Series (now known as the R400 Series).

Oooops - forget all of the above: Comma Babes!!!!!!

Putting the Passion back into motoring is our aim with the Comma Pitstop Challenge. With the famous Comma Babes, this exciting wheel change competition has been a smash hit for 2 years running at Autosport International and Max Power Live. In 2003 we're making it mobile and coming to an event near you.

I use it too - cant fault it.

I got told the other day that they make a larger name brand too - dont think it was Valvoline though!!

They do a semi-synthetic range too - 10/40, 15/50 - begins with X summat 2000.....the name escapes me!!!

Escy, no mate I think YOU'RE missing the point, lots of people I've known in the industry are sponsored by companies but don't use their products. So my question still stands - and I wasn't asking for speculation I was asking for fact. Can you give any?
Doug - The grades didn't add up to me either hence why I asked the original question, will have a look at the stuff LeeR21 has posted links to.....(cheers mate)

Hi PF Ben, yes, Gareth does use Comma oils in the escort with results that speak for themselves, I also used Comma oils in my RS500 with no problems at all.

Naah Ben....the XTech is 5/30 and the XT2000 is 15/40 are both semi-synthetic.

The Syner-Z/D/G range are all fully synthetic as is the long-life stuff.

They're getting so worried about being defeated on Saturday now they're trying to find out every piece of info possible, incase it gives them a better chance

As I'll be technical support on the day, I can confirm the car will be running on Sunflower Oil
