Default Views on new Fiesta ST

The time has come to sell the cos and get something more sensible.

Anyways, I went to the local Ford dealers todayto look at some focus' and was quite taken by the new Fiesta ST, seems to be a cracking little car so I've booked a test drive for tomorrow, anyone got one or driven one and if so what are they like?

My mums got one, in Silver
It's a really cool little car, i love the interior. Goes ok for what it is, but i had a Lupo GTi (125bhp with aluminium panels), which was more fun to drive and more throttle responsive

We got a free trackday when we bought it in March.. but when my mum realised it was her car i would be driving said No

As I said, I only wnet down to have a look for a Focus runabout really, but looked at the ST and thought it quite a cool little car so booked a test drive for a laugh.

I had a test drive in the new st but was dissapointed in the performance it wont compare to a cossie at all. And compared to the civic type -r and gti 180 its too slow. If only ford would listen to there customers instead of only giving it 150 bhp maybe it woud be more popular? i know for a fact the chassis is more than capable of taking its power but thats why i bought a 206 gti 180

no but the fiesta is a craking little car and feels really solid and handles superbly Just a shame ford didnt give it a little more

In it's favour it is piss easy to tune to over 200bhp and it's a better car in every way than it's competitors apart from the power

What 'easy' mods will see one over 200BHP

It must be very special if a naturally aspirated production engine can be easily tuned to over 200BHP!!

didnt realise it was a proper duratec??

and if youre buying a new car then you for sure aint going to be spending another 2k.... on tuning it.

and 50bhp from throttle bodies? little excessive IMO.

puts price to 16k..... there's an awful lot of things you can buy for 16k that are more practical than a fiesta.

my sister has one in red cracking litltle car very good handling not super quick but its quite nippy. and you cant compare the st to the likes of the type r and gti6 thats why they made the focus RS, and £1500 to get that much extra bhp is a fair price imo

You sure he was racing my last chipped rs turbo was no way near as fast!

I doubt that very much!!!!!!!!!!

not saying my car is a rocket ship but it would have to be a dam good escort to beat it!!!

If your car could do a civic type - r then it will do a 180

206 180 same as the gti 6 engine isnt it nearly the same bhp yeah the pug would handle better but a chipped rs will slaughter you in a straight line and can be made to handle ok too. and btw my 210 bhp rs is quicker then my type R

Sorry to disagree here but throttle bodies arent going to make 50bhp extra with that engine.

Its a slightly redesigned & reduced ST170 engine so it isnt a duratec even tho its badged as one.

The most your going to get extra tuning is 15-20bhp and make it around the 170bhp mark, even people with modified ST170 Focus's are struggling to make it over a genuine 185bhp with a fair few modifications (thats only 15bhp over std )

To get a genuine 200bhp you be looking to strip the engine down and start on mad cams and heavily ported and flowed head, throttle bodies, ecu, de-cat = lots of money. A turbo conversion would be a better way providing more BHP for your money but no one has done that yet.

Great looking car and i hope it drives as good as it looks
