Lotus Carltons!
You dont hear much about these nowadays and its a shame 
Im sure u could get these to mega power etc. And would be nice to see one at TOTB etc.
Anyone know what type of power these thigns can be pushed to? and how much do they go for nowadays?? Starting to think should i have put money into a new engine on car and just tried to save for one of these

I chased.. er Followed one 
down the M5 in my old pug.. Got to 130 THEN he put his foot down.. !!! tiny puff of black smoke and it, and it's mahoosive rear tyres were off as if i'd just put my car in reverse... 
Just a shame about the 'V' badges...

I think you will find that the engine is near the limit as standard 377bhp, if you want to know any more info go on to James waddington's lotus carlton website. A friend of mine as a J plate one which he has owned from new, he says he will never sell it. Agree these are awesome cars though a bit old now, iv'e thought about buying one often but to be honest you gotta have deep pockets. I'm holding out for a E39 M5 400bhp,their down to about 19-20k, when they reach 17k i will chop my M3 in.

I heard they were very unreliable if you start to up the power.
I spoke to someone from the owners club who chipped his. He blew three head gaskets in a year due to the increased boost - Apparantly uprated ones aren't available. He ended up putting it back to standard and hasn't had any problems since.

You might get a half decent Lotus omega for 11k, but about 20k is the cheapst you will find a Lotus carlton for.

I had one and they were the nutts, though trying to get parts at the time was a bit of a night mare I remember going to brands hatch to watch something or another and went to park in the out field and then some guy asked me if I wanted free tickets to get in and would I park it in their stand ...result! I can post the pic up if anyone wants to see my old pride & joy

Going back a few years ago there was one for sale for quite a while and the story goes as:
Mechanic/Technician takes the car out for a test/jolly drive and ends up rolling it
I hate to think who owns the car now as it should be called the: P38------production car as it had so much filler in the roof and other panels

Didnt know u had one Nath!Gotta say these are beast of cars and i thought u could get them to 450bhp with just a chip
Parts are prob hard due to not many being about!! but gotta say they are proper cars
