Default How strong is the US 1900 Block when bored to 2 litres?

I know most places bore them out to 83 mm, what if you go to 85mm? can they take that much or is cracking a risk?

Cheers,

Stu

85mm lol....fook that for a laugh.

Isnt the RST bore slightly less than 81mm, in which case, I wouldent ever bore it out that far, from what ive heard they are weak and crap anyway, why the hell would you wanna make it worse!

1900 to 2000cc wont make much noticable difference, especially not to power potenetial, as we can put however much air into the engine we want via the turbo.

I Rudey, yeah I read that to about specialised, wonder what they bore them to the second time?.

Phil, I agree on the 1600 block, but this is the US tall block which is 82mm bore as standard I believe and gets bored to 83mm when made into the usual 1900 conversion sold by specialised etc. This 1mm overbore is within ford specs so I suppose it causes neglegable weakening.

I agree on the airflow thing, the reason I ask as I believe my current engine is a tall block is bored to 85mm and fitted with standard 2litre zetec pistons. Im currently only runiing standard boost and have run about 15K like this fine. Im now looking to go for 1 bar, ala standard zetec pistoned ZVH recommended limits but am just weighing up the possible risks.
