guys, mine hasnt rusted.. i need one without the holes.
does the tailgate come with glass?
cheers for the finis codes.. does anyone know for sure which tailgate will fit the esc cos?
i really dont want to fill the original holes / wiper hole and i REALLY dont want to go to a scrappy to get one.. id much rather pay the extra for brand new
Gareth.. do you mean rear lenses???

the finis codes are as for as stated
the only difference is that the no cos ones doesnt have the holes for the spoiler but does have the wiper and wash holes which are blanked with a plastic grommet if not used, no glass IIRC, just the tinwork in grey primer.

Dave,
You need a mk5 tailgate...all the esc cos's we've built use the mk 5 tailgate....tailgates dont come with glass...they will all fit the esc cos...your new wrc spoiler wont fit on a mk6 tailgate....
Car looks well mate...
Regards
Ian

thanks Dave, appreciated
Ian, yes pal, i wasnt in any danger of ordering a Mk6 tail. Thanks for the comment on the car too should see a lot more work on it soon
out of interest Ian, of the cars you build.. do you ever use an in tank pump? im currently replacing mine with a bosh 023 item and want to use aeroquip hose from the two unions projecting from the tank.. im guessing i just need to get -6 male fittings welded / brased to these pipes?

Dave,
We use a boot mounted bag tank...2 separate pumps
The in tank mod was something we did wen we built grp 'n' cars....that was a long time ago and i cant just recall how we put them together....the method you describe sounds fine though....we tend to silver solder mods to fuel components/rails etc....
The new car was painted last week....and before you start to give me s**t the colour was decided a long time ago.....

Ian, that is quality! now the question you probably visioned....
those front wings.. are they steel and where did you get them from (although I suspect you will say they came with the shell)
im going to pull my finger out and actually get a set of steel wins and get them sent to be hand beaten and sprayed if i cant source any

They are kevlar mate....we get them from a guy in Darlington...all the panels on the car except the rear quarters are composite....Ramsport 01824 70 70 38 had a set of genuine steel wings for sale...i thought i'd sent you the info....

Its he same old thing....up close they won't look as good as the steel wings......on an old rally car you expect the door gaps to not quite line up (adds character)...but on a minter like yours i'd be sending them to Gordy Vincent and having some genuine steel versions done....I took this pic to try to show how wide the WRC car is compared to the normal esc....unfortunately i'm not that adept with the old camera....
Did they give a price for the carbon wings?

Its a Gravel Spec WRC Car....we were hoping to do this years BTRDA in it but funds have been tight so it looks like it will be next year..the car has been trial built so its just a case of nailing it all back together in the next couple of weeks...
All the usual stuff...6 speed active FFD box...active 8.5" front diff.....WRC engine 8 inj..ihi turbo....fuel safe bag tank...proflex...aluminuim prop...fabrictaed 6 point front x-member...shell as light as we can...
Gordon Vincent is the guy who did all the Boreham Fabrication work...his company ACS engnieering is in Witham...01376513419...when he does the wrc shells he cuts the rear inner arches and pulls them out by about 1".....they then as you say roll and beat the fronts....he did the cage, mounts and pickups on this shell and although it wasn't a new shell its a work of art...
Rear suspension and cage pick-up points...
Regards
Ian

To change em if (wen) we batter em we bolt the from wings....but you could easily bond (sikaflex) them on...I think i paid about Ł150 a piece for the kevlar wings....Ł300 is taking the piss....if you have no joy and still want some I can see if i can get you a pair....

Those pics are stunning, to the un-trained eye it amazing just how much of a difference there is between a standard Escort Cosworth and a WRC Version!
Can a WRC Version be made from a road going Escort Cosworth or are the WRC shell's different to start with?
Pics look simply stunning mate!

Dan,
You could convert a standard road car to WRC spec but it means a strip down to a bare shell...
The rear arches are widened by about and inch from standard as are the fronts...
Glad you like it...

I sourced a mkV tailgate with standard tinted glass and lock/key for mine when I was going to WRC it. It is in good condition, debadged, diamond white.
Its surplus to requirements now and taking up valuable space, so PM me if you want it cheap.
Nice WRC pics BTW - that fatarse is lovely, much meaner than a std escos.
