Try checking out www.pumaspeed.co.uk, think thats the site, should be alot of info on there for you mate, but just to answer a few questions

Engine, Think there a 1.8 but not sure on that one

Power, again not sure but think there about 160bhp

Yes they ALL came with the wide arches and sparco seats, I believe these were done especially for this model

Yes they have 17's as standard.

God knows how many were sold in the UK but it wasn't a vast amount!

IMO there nice cars, but I wouldn't have a puma or a racing version myself

What engine do they use?? 1.7 Zetec SE (Yamaha developed engine IIRC), with tuning done by Ahmed Bayjoo & SCS on behalf of Ford.

Power as standard???? approx. 150-160BHP

They all came with the wide arches + sparco seats as standard??? Yes

17's as standard??? Yes

am i right in thinking about 500 were sold in the UK??? Apparently so...

People's general opinions on them???
Fun car, handles well apparently - a good match of power to the chassis.

Thanks for them links, will have a look

Been looking at a new car for while to replace my 206, looking at audi a3's, golf gti's, seat ibiza's, 2.0 focus's, astra coupes, just noticed the racing puma in the for sale forum, never really noticed puma's before and was just wondering what there like

Think they go pretty well really for what they are, like Bill said there a fun car to drive and nice and rare!

You'll have alot of road precense aswell with those big wide arches! I'd have a puma over any of those car's you've listed, mind you its a ford!

I think its Tony at Pumaspeed that has done this conversion hasn't he? Not sure on the power of it tho, seem to remember that its abit more than 330bhp

Im sure fords in general are better made and more reliable then Peugeot's though

Mines a 02 reg (41000 miles) and its already had

2 new front wishbones
3 sets of front drop links
new front shocks due to leaking
new rear shocks, again leaking
new flywheel due to the old one cracking
new clutch
its on its 3rd gearbox
bearings went on the rear trailing arms, so ended up needing a new rear beam

and it failed its 1st MOT last week, thus wanting to sell it

Aye, 400+, but 330BHP / 803's would be okay I reckon, otherwise your back into hunting down expensive transmission parts It's still double the original output

Roybace - The Puma was originally based on the Fiesta if my memory serves me correctly, but beware of FRP bumper/body parts, they ain't cheap - brakes also expensive from Ford.
