well thats it finally mapped !!! NOW WITH PICS
well yes today was a momentus day , the car arrived at MSD to be mapped at 10.00 am
kenny was there waiting for it , laptop in hand !!
a few minor jobs to sort - missfire under boost - never been run that high before - plug change and re gap - jobs mint , carry on with the low speed running on my restricted map 1 , driveability absolutly mint , better than a std road car
was just about to go for a few 'flat out acceleration runs and all was going really well upto about 19.30hrs when .....................
the woes hit - kenny says why has it just started going rich then ????
i looked out of the side to see the smoke from the exhaust
the turbo had expired
oil had started coming down the exhaust pipe
so we retired back to the garage for a re-group
not only that but my 3rd gear had decided to give me greif
decided that KFC was the way to go for tea !!
so after that - kenny decided we can repair the turbo if im up for it - so off it came , turbo off , stripped , rebuilt full internal on it - found some front bearing split , large crack in it , and refit with in 2 hours (+ KFC time )
so we were off again , all running well and mint , got all the top end done , by this time its about 00.30 hrs ,
then the un-restricted map
will give you some more info on the back to back tests later
its now 04.15 ive just got back from blackpool and im knackered , me and kenny are fully fooked after today !!
i have to say a MASSIVE thanks to kenny for all his hard work and enthusiasm to be able to put up with my car for a day (oh and me !! ) its not the most sociable car to be in for a few hours let a lone over a day !!

Unbelievable!! I have to say, never have I seen two more dedicated people in the tuning industry (or possibly any industry?) who won't quit until the job is perfect & that's why they are the only people I would take my Cossie to after I'd been there once.

have u ever had one of those intstances where , no matter what it takes to get a job done properly u have to do it ??
well the travelling distance is nothing , its a small hurdle that HAS to to be crossed to have the BEST job done
im sorry if this offends any other tuners , but there is no one else in this country that i know of that does a better job , not just the late hours , etc etc , but the actual finished map , like i said driveability and not just flat out
for an instance , from blackpool last night , from leaving MSD onto the main bypass , i managed to get all the way to preston with out a gear shift , now for those of you who dont know the route via kirkham , there are a number of roundabouts , not huge ones , a number of 90 deg turns and a lot of traffic lights , yes the lights were all green (or just about ) but its the fact that my car will now slow down to 1100rpm in fifth at 20mph then you just add light throttle and it pulls away , no hessitance , no coughing , no spluttering , bottom end torque is what its all about , and what it was built for

So did ya get that shonky 10:1 YB lump of yours running more than a bar in the end then or what?

on the restricted map we capped it at 24psi below 6k and 12 psi above to the limiter
on the unrestricted map we seriuosly had to cap it at just shy of 30psi practically the limiter in th interest of turbo longevity !!

no m8 didnt want the lag of the .63 rear but needed a more flowing rer than a .48 hence the top end boost - oh and the bottom end boost !! so you can work that one out for ya self , as for the core and the compressor , heres a piccy , but cant reveal anything else !! sorry

Is that the rear of a T28 or whatever they are called?? (turbo from small turbo escos)
I'm sure thats what the old MD240 I used to look like at the rear or am I getting confused?

its a hybrid that i designed myself , and we rebuilt it last night i suppose thats what you get for letting a turbo company build your turbo

the car has a lot of wiring to begin with (could do with a tidy up tbh) but once kenny started that was it - fookin wires everywhere !! through the windows through the bonnet gaps
