As you said at the top of the thread, carry out those measures and you will be ok.
Oh yer check the flight timings on ceefax to make sure they aren't lying when they say they are actually coming from Ireland. There aren't many ferry ports that go from England to Ireland and your car is very distinctive even for an XR3i
So changing the plates won't be any good if it comes to worst case senario.
I'm sure you'll be fine mate.

just sold my car yesterday. cheeky fookers agreed the price, I ordered them a cat (car type not meow type) to be delivered at their house. The signed the V5!! then, tried to haggle the price again

Just be polite FFS. Try and see it from their point of view as well. If you wont meet them at your house, are very "secretive" during the deal. Then what are they going to think? Make sure you box the car in with another one, make sure you lock the front door of your house as you come out. Make it clear, you're only going for a test drive with ONE of them. Really TRY to get someone else there with you. Why not hire a prostitute, when the deals done the other deal can get sorted Might be worth you "talking" to somebody in the house as you come out the door, make out that theres other people in there.
Just size it up, but remember that these are the only people to look at the car so far, so it might be worth leaning a little to get the sale.
Have to say though, I wouldnt come that far for ANY car that cost less than 100K. SO the alarm bells would be ringing straight away.

but basically it went exactly to the plan I laid out in my first post on this thread - they were happy to go to bank to do payment first, then come back and sign car over, and were genuinely nice folk
I get the feeling he is gonna take good care of it too - was already telling me how he can insure it on classic car policy over there so he don't have to use it everyday, can be his weekend/fun car

let them wait in a restaurant.. give them coffee (or whatever).. on your bill ..
and go and get the car... pick one of them up ...
drive around.. go back .. and do it again with the other bloke if necasarry ..
if there still intrested and after price haggling.. go out alone.. and get your paperstuff...

For any mis-confusion - I sold the car today (as scheduled) not tommorrow as a few thought
Basically I got the cab to drop them up the road from me and went and met em in my van, sussed em out, was happy so brought em back to see car. Let them look around it, showed em history folder, took each one out seperately for test drive, then sorted a price, all went to bank in work van, paid the money in making sure it was correct and legit, and then came back, let em in the house to sign V5 over and issue a reciept for it (sold as seen ) then watched em drive off. Not once did I have the car, the keys and the V5 in the same place at the same time
They were very good about it tho, so it all went smoothly - I blame all you lot for getting me all worked up over nothing

Yeah only got van now.. I need to find a dirt cheap car with tiny engine to swap my ins policy over to so I can keep my NCB and avoid the cacellation fee tho... like a 1litre Metro or summat... I don't give a fook if the coonnt don't even run jsut so long as I can own it and insure it thats fine
