why do we still use......
why do we still use pressure controlled wastegate actuators?
why havent we ditched them yet,, i would of thought that a electronic linear actuator would of been used by now
just thinking out loud really

Gareth, the problems are...
1) HEAT - kills electronics
2) SPEED/STRENGTH - Needs to be fast moving and strong
Could be done completely electronically but you would end up paying LOADS !!!

Interesting thought though Mr T. As said, heat problems would kill the plan. A remote-activated servo (ie with a rod from the servo to the wastegate) would need a silly long rod to mean the servo could be situated anywhere

i still think its possible,, there is many ways too get around the actuators strength,,, like adding a gearbox of somekind, or even making the pivot longer on the wastegate end

If it isnt broke dont fix it? Then humanity would never move forward.

CAn i ask what im wondering though its nothing to do with cars, and me saying ti could make me look bad as people will think im cruel etc Oh wait forget it
