P8PRO is a massively well specced ECU, loads of features, but personally i would find someone you trust to map your car first, and then go with whatever they recomend.
For exmaple if you went to MAD then they would encourage you to go autronic etc.
(in fact MAD come highly recomended and are well worth considering, you might also want to talk to Stu@MSD or Kar Noris, all of these 3 tuners use this board)

just finding my feet
stu@MSD can map most systems, chip is totaly totally correctt, who ever is mapping your car ask them as they need to know how it works ect to make the most of it
also make sure that its been tested at the spec you hope to end up with, some systems are not tested on big boost aplications as much and even though they will prob work fine lobbing 30psi on ya engine and now knowing how controled the boost is gonna be might be worrying
DTA is a good value for money system though that alot of people are happy woth and alot of tuners have worked with it as the price of the system makes it a good system
also dont forget the other systems out there, omex is out there and proven in a few cars and Gary@APT who knows the system extremely well and has used 500 series in his own car over 2 years ago and still perfers it and also fully trained to install and map the new omex 700 series with all the toys on it ( anti-lag ect)

Otherwise its like knowing you are buying a sierra but not knowing if its a cossie or a ghia.

The car has had ŁŁŁ's spent on it, large turbo conversion etc, looks and drives superb, so we'll have to see, we might be picking it up tonight or maybe tmrw.
so in all, its good then?? We we're just worried cos we dont know that much about it.

i have just got the car, so will metion no names at the minuite.
it was fitted an installed by a well known tuner, they done the small to big turbo conversion, it was first fitted with dark greens but they said the injectors maxed out at 20 psi, so they fitted greys & a 4 bar fuel reg.
it runs a T35, but they never opened up the ports on the head to the size of a big turbo.
the car has recently had a head gasket fitted by another well known tuner who also fitted a smaller fuel reg and adjusted the fuelling (didn't touch the map) when i got the car it blew a very small amount of smoke, i put this down to the fuelling, i stopped for fuel on the way home & upon restarting the car it only ran on 3 cylinders. i had no tools so had to get recovered home, got home & took the plugs out, no.4 was soaked so i installed new plugs & took it straight to Power Engineering,
on cruise the lambda was 8.0 percent the map was all over the place & the car was puffing from the breather like a steam train!!!
result, it seems the bad setup has caused the engine to 'borewash' de-lubricate the rings & glaze everything up.
rebuild time.

Hi Guzzler,
First thing is you must replace them injectors. they are not suitable for DTA!!
Give Allen Warburton a call of DTA, www.dtafast.co.uk and ask for a set of Siemens injectors.
Second thing to do is give Steve Greenauld a call on 07774 773824, he is a DTA specialist mapper and is located in Essex, right near the Dartford Crossing, he is extremly good and i garantee will get the car running spot on .

P.S. Steve only has a 2wd rolling road but i'm sure he ill be able to sort something out to map a 4wd Escos.

yeah, he's very helpful, i can't but think that he's been stitched right up by the installer, seems they don't really know what there doing, just clutching at straws, they kept having the car back to change things, with a clutch a few other things & the turbo>managment conversion the guy paid over 10 grand.
all i want is some money towards the rebuild. then i will probably get Powers to change the managment to Omex.

It will be a waste of your money and time!
You already have a very capable ECU. Why change it for another one???
When you strip them down to the basics all mappable ECUs do the same thing - allow you to map fuel and ignition against load.
They would all be able to run your engine. The information that is fed into them is what makes the difference.
Just take it to some one who has mapped turbo cars before. They should be able to figure out the DTA software pretty quickly and sort you out.

You can use those injectors with DTA, they just need a ballast resistor with them.
I wouldnt use them anyway personally cause Greys are rubbish old technology with slow reaction times.
I dont see how you can blame the original tuner when its been messed around with since, especially something as crucial as changing the fuel pressure regulator without remapping it!
Steve Greenauld is a fooking DTA god, get your car down to him and you will be over the moon with how it runs afterwards and wont even be considering Omex instead mate, i promise you!

Only the other side of the M25 to you guys as well so only a 30-40 min drive.
I trailered my car there the first time and he had it running very well within 15 mins of starting.
I remember feeling like you probably do now. My car was sooo over fueling with the 850cc Seimens i thought it could never be sorted out.

i was thinking of keeping the DTA, but i get a good deal at Powers & they do quite a few Omex conversions, so they know there stuff with it.
before i remove the engine i think i will get the DTA flylead & software & get them to see what they think of it. for injectors i will probably use dark greens.

Steve Greenauld won't map DTA with Dark Greens they are just tooo old school for the DTA management.
Beleive me he will tell you to get the Seimens plate injectors from DTA.
Good luck with everything mate, i'm sure steve will amaze you with how good he can map.

Im not aware of any Omex ECU that is a match for the P8Pro, and im not aware of any mapper better than Steve Greenault who lives right on your doorstep, id say you would be mad to go anywhere else personally, especially involving new ECU and loom etc when you already have such a good product on there to begin with.

Yeah i knew i recognaised it.
Was a real lovely car, i remember looking and noticing how well made the wiring loom was and i new it had DTA P8.
I went up to PTS for a Sunny GTIR shoot out and saw it there.
