Whats the best sounding mota you think?

For me its gota be the engine that powers a lot of the nastyest looking mentaly fast 4door barges around, and a few other choice mota's biiig boost RB26/30 hybrid engine (think "a good ZVH" ).

I been playing vid clips of mad scoobys, ferraris, cossys, Rx7s, Supras, Skylines (RB26s), etc etc to see if anything sounded better, and nope, thas the sound for me, even the vid of the modded F40 on the rollers didnt sound as good (tho v.similar).

Whats your faves? I know everyone seems to beat one off over the sound of supercars etc, but TBH a modded non-supercar engine often sounds better (as above IMO).

 

I seen a Vid club of a old Datsun with a Big Chevvy V8 in with a super charger that soudned awsome!!! for me a V8 and even more so if its turbo'd

 

Ferrarie 355 vid clip that was kicking about for a while.

Sports exhaust (can't remember the make) - sounds absolutely unbelievable.

Non turbo engines make the best sound for me. For a production engine, either the Rover V8, or the Alfa V6

 

The golf R32 sounds nice, in complete standard form.

 

Ive got that clip Rhys, well a few of that car, it sounds good, but not AS good.

What rarri clip is that Rich? I got 2 of 355s jus donutting around, and 2 racing skylines (1 in the UK, 1 abroad), and they sounded good, but still cant beat the sound in the vids, even that modded F40 on rollers vid.

 

Im sorry Steve but theres a vid of a yellow 1000HP dodge viper on the rollers that IMO sounds better than both those vids

I dont think theres an engine out there that has the best sound.All engines have their own character.
But a worked YBT is the best sounding 4cyl,

E46 M3 best 6cyl,or 6R4

E39 M5 best V8. (F360 sounds harsh)

Gallardo best V10.

MClaren F1 road car best V12.

 

Might not be as "exotic" as the ones mentioned above, but the new Carrera GT and the Ferrari 575 give me WOOD everytime I hear one given a proper bootfull

Apart from Rikki n Deano, has anyone actually looked at them vids, as doubt youd know from memory what one would sound like, lol.

I "thought" 'rarri engines etc would sound better as its put in our minds by everyone saying it 24/7, so i listened back to back (ie nothing from your brain), and i thought wrong, the rarris didnt sound all that

pmsl @ trying to describe what an engine sounds like though I remember reading in Fast ford years ago:

A bailey dumpvalve goes "ptsssh"
A whistling dumpvalve goes "twweeesshh"
And no dumpvalve goes "ptllleeeee"


I think the exhaust has a big part to play aswell though, i.e straight through, manifold header lengths etc.
IMO that scooby sounds cack, the bogo scooby of billy no mates down the road, with just a big mumma exhaust (hks?) and filter sounds mucho better (but thats just me )

 

Got to say an old Quattro turbo sounds the nuts when floored(even in standard form) or TVR's with rover V8's,or a Diablo,even ticking over is pretty fucking good!

Have yous ever seen Best Motoring? I have a DVD (actually, 7 ) with these mad Japanese fellas. On the WRX vs EVO DVD, they have a short feature on some of the viewers cars. A really tidy R32 skyline GT on bodies. It sounds amazing! Nearly good enough to convert me to JapCrap!

tuned n/a engines do it for me though. the lad next door and his mates are into their hondas. his mate has got an integra type-R, and i heard him give it beans the other night. it hit 6k and the V-tec system cuts in and fooook me it was mental!! loverly sound!! just coughed then screamed its arse off!!

my mk1 sounds nice too, spesh with this fooker!

Those cars are huge and MEGA ugly, they old Holdens.

A RB30 is a 3litre straight 6 block fitted as std to ancient non-turbo skylines from the early 80s and holden turbos like in the vids.
Using it as a base for an engine using a GTR RB26 head and a fappin massive turbo creates a very special engine, like in the vids.
