Default How do identify a turbo?

got a turbo here and need to find out exactly what it is ie 2wd/4wd etc

supposely its from a 92 4x4 cosworth was gonna put it on my car coz mines shot but it appears to be different the housings not in the right postion and theres no way to mount the actuator.It has these numbers on the back wonder if anyone could help me i.d it

that one, my pedigree chum, looks like a 2wd turbo.

ALTHO it could be a 4wd raer end with a 2wd core and compressor.

what do the numbers say on the ID plate?

could be a 2wd turbo dude, they are the same as 4wd but the compressor housing moved as the mainfolds are different

That will fit 2wd or 4x4 mate.......ya just need to turn the housings to fit whichever manifold......oh and you`ll need an actuator bracket as well....

could be a 2wd turbo dude, they are the same as 4wd but the compressor housing moved as the mainfolds are different

altho they LOOK the same, 2wd turbo has a .50 trim compressor with a .42 comp cover, and a 4wd has a .60 trim compressor with a .42 cover - overspeed city with a 4wd cover on a 2wd compressor - i know, i've done it


generally speaking, 4wd turbo's have the actuator mounting arm bolted to the front of the turbocharger instead of one of the claming plates like on a 2wd.

i had a feeling it was a 2wd turbo but the i.d numbers that tell ya if its a 2wd one dont seem to be there the only numbers i can find are the ones i have put at start of thread.

TB0384 is a 4wd part number (just been to look at mine)

you have there sonny, a 2wd unit

exactly mate thats why it appears to be a 2wd one coz the actuator aint mounted on the face like the one i took off the car

has anyone got a good working t3 for my 4x4 then now that this 2wd one aint gonna be much use to me
