Default ecu differences?

I have an f-reg s2 with an ecu that has a blue,red and black square on it.
i have purchased a chipped ecu with a heart and triangle and a dash on it that i think is from a g-reg car am i able to fit it? if not then i will sell it!

ive been told that there is a difference between a 90 spec and an 88 spec,im very confused! ive also been told that if i drive mine to get it set up with it on which is booked at engine advantages in two mths,that it will fry it because of a knock sensor or not?

I was under the impression it would cause running problems?
thought u needed the right ecu for the year ie post or pre 90

well the only problem i have is im now stuck with an ecu that i dont need? would like to avoid paying out for another unless i can do some sort of tradekay2, ,

not interested in a trade mate, im converting mine to efi so just gettin rid of all the parts i dont need from the efi cheap

chip was boosting to 22psi and 220bhp the chips from a company called Detection Techiques ltd in Buckinghamshire
