Default URGENT HELP NEEDED: MOT problems

Hi, I went to MOT yesterday with the cossie...
After long discussions about my taillights that were not roadlegal and my tyres that are too big according to them, they had to admit there was nothing wrong!
Happy faces when they saw my CO-level was way too high (10% with 3% being the maximum).
So a red card... :-(

Now I tried my other P8 with pectel board. I removed the pectel board and installed my standard chip. Then a friend told me that was a big no-no because of adaptions that were made to the P8 in order to use the pectel board.

So back to the old P8...
When I start the engine CO-levels are 3%. But after a few seconds it goes up to 10% and it stays there, so now I was thinking there's a sensor somewhere that doesn't function anymore...

I have until 30/06/04 to pass MOT, so with so little time on my hands, I was thinking of installing a L8 because it is adjustable.
Can I use this without any other modifications or do I need a 2 bar mapsensor aswell and does anyone has an idea witch sensor could be busted??

Cheers, Jo

Jo,
It is most likely to be the blue sensor water temp sensor that you mentioned in your PM. Especially as you have just recently done the headgasket. This is normally when they let go, as people disturb the wires (which are probably brittle due to heat / age) when they remove / reinstall the head. Check these (and check it is even plugged in ).

Not sure of finis code for it, but Ford aren't cheap .

His injectors are still standard and wether he uses the fast road chip or his standard chip --> it's all the same.

Pretty annoying problem.

Come on, help this guy out.

CLEAN YOUR AIR CLEANER. and then try it. IF it lowers a touch then try it without the air cleaner on and if it is then legal then your air cleaner is f*cked.

Youd never believe how many people try and adjust the mixture for a dirty air cleaner. SO many people do it to get it through the mot.

then take it off and try the emissions. If it is within limits your air cleaner is fooked.

Have you cleaned your boost pipes out yet?

Try spraying carb cleaner around the inlet manifold and plenium. If you have a leak the car will stutter.

Just put in another P8.
Now CO-level is 0.388%
CO2-level: 14.8%
Lambda: 1.023

Going to try MOT again tomorrow....

thing is with the other P8 surely it's possable that your car is now running far too lean ?

my first thought would be check to see if you have a leaking injector

Yes, it is a bit lean, but will be adjusted by EA when I go for my stage 3
For now, I've put my "old" P8 back

by definition, lambda greater than 1 is lean, less than 1 is rich.

you answered your own question, hence my rather sarcastic reply.

unless i haven't properly understood the question?
