Default Problem - 4x4 transfer case

What is the right tool to unscrew the output shaft and get to oil seal in the back of transfer case in 4x4 Cossie? Sorry I don't know the rigt words to speak about tools. There is ths star like nut there. I couldn't find enything that would hold it well. Is it 31??? Seams unlikely maybe 12 side 30?? Please help.

i think ur talking along the lines of either a torx, or a spline bolt. errr dont skimp buy the best u can afford and make sure they have lifetime garenteeeeeeeeee cuz they break well shite ones anyway. hope this helps

No not torx. This one is a big 12 sided nut - when you take out rear propeler shaft you can see it.
