Default Westfield NA Cosworth - views please

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...482163750&rd=1

Quite interested in this. Seems like an awful lot of power for an NA Cossie... and to be reliable??

What's everyone's view on this, and what do you reckon I could get for the engine if bought (would stick in a normal Stage 3 Cossie turbo lump instead)??

Must be loads of Mk1/2 'scort boys who'd love the engine?

It's a non-Q plate Westy with a good engine spec so the price is not bad I reckon...

Yea, I'd agree.

Think he's dreaming getting 300bhp out of a N/A cossie lump personally!

220 is realistic I'd say, nice spec

Someone needs to paint the fookin' thing though! Awful colours

I'd pay 9k if i had the money and probably turbo it in the end too

very nice

tbh i think 9k is a very fair price for it
if your interested in it then here is my view.......leave it n/a With that sort of power it will be rapid as fook and CONTROLABLE in the corners
yes a stage 3 turbo in the would be great but it would be to fast (yes i said to fast ) for the road and there would be very few places that you could open her up
with mine if i come out a corner and boot it in 3rd it will always light up and put you sideways yes its good fun to begin with but its not so fun when your not trying to do it bottom line is that it will be a much better drive if left n/a

and if you convert to turbo you will have a big hole in the side of the tub were the 4 pipes used to come out plus the you got to fit an intercooler in there which is a bitch! and needs a charge cooler really which will set you back around £700
+moving the engine as I doubt its in the right place for a turbo to be fitted as its dam tight ect ect the list goes on!

Cant quite see from the pic but i don’t think it has detachable rear arches not a big problem but you dont wana spank it as then you goda change the whole tub instead of just an arch the arches are £160 each and the tub is £600+

all in all if you don’t mind the colour then id say it looks a pucker car but please listen to me when i say leave it n/a, it would be just as quick through the b roads as mine as you could push it more in the corners

Cheers for the top advice Darren

Spoke to my mate last night that built a Westy, and he said the same as you, and that the swap to a Cossie turbo engine was not straight forward. Driveability wasn't a massive issue for me as my style is quite aggressive at the expense of speed, but with the lack of weight, it is apparently hard to balance the slide when the turbo comes in (as opposed to my 3 door where it is quite controllable) - that takes the fun out for me....

I am planning to build a Megabusa as have first refusal on an immaculate complete Hayabusa, but I think I'll go and have a look at this one at the weekend.

Thanks all!!

That is SO worth £9k with that engine . 260bhp is a piece of piss out of a n/a Cossie and 300bhp would also be possible with exotic internals and a 9k rev ceiling.

I agree with Darren on this one

9k for a car like this is cheap.

Some of the bike powered cars fetch around 12 - 15k second hand.

220bhp is a mild tune on one of these engines in N/A form.

Usually with cams and throttle bodies and a few engine mods 270bhp is about right.

300+ bhp is acheivable but you have to spend a fortune.

There is a guy in the Westfield club with a Millington Cosworth N/A engine in his running around the 300bhp mark.

He thought his clutch was slipping in 5th until he was told by a by stander that it was actually spinning its wheels.

You all have to remember that these cars weigh as much as a crisp packet.

Mine weighs in at 500kg with a full tank of fuel wich is less than half that of a Cosworth.

The one for sale is 220bhp which will be equivelent to a 500bhp cossie

if it were me and i was in the market and i had the money then i dont think you can go wrong with that one for 9k

these westies are a bugger to slide anyway to b honest there so low and hard that they will out corner most things but when they go past the limit they dont give you much warning and before you know it the car has just bitten your cock off!

god luck with this one though i recon she will be awsome to drive

just a shame about the nody car colour scheme
